Jinal and Rahul, Mumbai
With a dramatic sunset as the backdrop, this couple's wedding mandap overlooking the beach at Taj Lands End was a treat for the eyes.
Surrounded by their loved ones and the salty Arabian Sea breeze, Jinal and Rahul’s wedding hosted at the plush Taj Lands End, Mumbai exuded contemporary grandeur and was a perfect expression of their vivacious personalities. Photographed by WeddingSutra Favorite – The Wedding Salad who made every shot count with their superior expertise, each moment of these magnificent nuptials was a treat for the senses.
How They Met
“Rahul and I were set up by my GMAT professor who thought we would be perfect together. For the first date, we went for dinner and drinks to a club in Colaba and realized right away that we wanted the same things in life. He was poised, confident, intelligent, and warm, everything that I was looking for. Within a few conversations, I somehow knew that we had something special between us and before we knew it, we fell headlong into love.”, shares Jinal.
Wedding Venue
Replete with greenery and equipped with magnificent views of the beautiful Arabian Sea, the Taj Lands End’s sprawling poolside lawn was the chosen venue for the wedding. Impressed by the property’s grandeur, the couple also chose to execute their boisterous cocktail party at the same venue where they could easily shake a leg while experiencing the renowned hospitality of Taj. For the other functions the duo chose, Tote on the Turf for the mehndi, Hotel Sea Princess for the Haldi and Myrah along with Hyatt Regency for the sangeet.
Wedding Planning
“As my best friend had tied the knot just a few months before me, I relied on her good sense to guide me when it came to choosing vendors. On the photography front, we chose The Wedding Salad who were very professional and amazing. Each shot photographed by them not only expressed a plethora of emotions but also gave us a treasure trove of memories to cherish for a lifetime. Every time we look at the pictures, it’s like we’re traveling back in time and experiencing our big day all over again!”
Adding to the team were decorators Altair Decor, National Decorators, The Drama Queen along with planners Auspicious Events and Entertainment, choreographers ‘Lights.Camera.Dance’, invitation designer ‘Two the T’ and makeup artists ‘The Lipstick Diary’, Priya Todarwal and Recinda Martis.
Weddings Functions
Cocktail
Jinal shares, “This was a boisterous party for the youngsters which included close friends and family. And in my quest to make everything perfect, we made sure there were plenty of personalized elements around the venue which also included customized stirrers.”
Haldi and Myrah
An intimate affair with close family members and friends present, Jinal and Rahul’s haldi took place separately. Following a traditional route, the decor was minimalist as the duo was playfully slathered with a mixture of haldi and yogurt to get their pre-wedding glow on.
Mehendi
“This was hands down one of the most special events of the wedding for me. With Ankit Batra crooning enthralling melodies on stage, the event had a distinct Sufi vibe to it. Being a sundowner mehndi, everyone also shook a leg on the dance floor. My Dad and I also joined in and danced to a nostalgic Bollywood track which left both of us very emotional. Additionally, Rahul executed a surprise performance with my bridesmaids which left everyone in high spirits!”, shares the bride.
Sangeet
“The Sangeet was a large family affair as everyone slipped into their dancing shoes and showed off their best moves on stage. A mix of new and old Bollywood songs played throughout the night so that even the elders of the family could dance and reminisce about their golden days. Artist Rafi Khan also performed at the event which only added to the cheery vibe.”, shared Jinal.
Wedding
With a gorgeous sea-facing mandap that witnessed magnificent views of the colorful sunset, it’s safe to say that Jinal and Rahul’s wedding ceremony was a feast for the eyes. The bride happily recalls, “The weather, decor, and timing were absolutely perfect. Everything came together just like we’d envisioned and I couldn’t be happier!”
Reception
“We chose to have a meet and greet reception and had Romanian violinists playing soft music in the background. Our entry to the event was heralded by cold pyros that cast a golden glow around us while the violinists played enchanting tunes.”, shares Jinal.
