Jyothi and Deepak, Thrissur
This couple’s traditional Malayali wedding painted a mesmerizing picture against the beguiling lake backdrop.
Every girl dreams of her perfect wedding, but in the course of actually planning a wedding, many things don’t go the way you want it to. Bride Jyothi, a doctor by profession, is extraordinary in more ways than one! Undeterred by the impact of the ongoing global situation, she brought her dream wedding to life, albeit at a smaller scale. Taking in a glimpse of their beautiful and unique Hindu Nair wedding, you cannot help but marvel at the minimal, yet undeniably royal proceedings.
How They Met
The bride shares, “I never believed in love at first sight, but locking eyes with Deepak for the first time at a friend’s wedding changed everything. Best friends of the bride and groom respectively, our first meeting was a classic meet-cute. He had been senior to me in the same medical college, but we had never crossed paths. In fact, looking back, we realized the sheer number of times we came close to meeting but never did. I guess fate was waiting for all the stars to align perfectly for us to meet at exactly the right time of our lives. We clicked amazingly well, so much so that I felt he could read my mind, my emotions, and my exact thoughts just by looking into my eyes. We grew together into the best version of ourselves. After 14 months of dating, it was during the pandemic that we decided we did not want to put off being together any longer and just took the leap.”
Wedding Venue
Growing up, the bride had always dreamt of an intimate, lakeside destination wedding, where they could immortalize their love with a picture on a boat. Additionally, she also wanted her Talikettu (the Malayali Hindu tradition of tying the knot in a temple in the presence of god) to be held at the famous Guruvayoor, Sree Krishna Temple. To bring her vision to life, she entrusted The E Village Resort & Ayurveda Engandiyur, Chettuva, Kerala who built the setup based on her illustrations to precise perfection.
Wedding Planning
“As soon as my dates were finalized, I sought out the immensely talented Gireesh Chalakudy for the wedding photography as I had admired his work for a long time. After his confirmation, the next step was to find a wedding planner that could pull off a wedding in a week’s time, and Xes Entertainment did a fabulous job. Mr. Jijeesh of Inspirit Makeovers, an acclaimed name in the South Indian Makeup industry gave me my bridal look which I absolutely loved, and for the ceremony I wore a saree by Dhanya’s Fashion at DDesigns.” shares the bride.

Wedding
The intimate ceremony with just 50 people in attendance looked like something out of a dream. The tranquil setting near the lake, coupled with fresh, romantic décor in soft pastel hues cast a magical ambience over the festivities. The groom looked divine in a classic combination of white and gold, while the bride stunned in a turquoise brocade saree with traditional jewelry. “Walking down the aisle with my dad, as I took in the beauty of the décor that turned out exactly as I had imagined, my loved ones standing around and the love of my life waiting for me, I couldn’t hold back my tears. I felt so loved and blessed that even amidst adversity I could get married to the man of my dreams, all thanks to the help and support of my family.”
