Kanupriya Alhuwalia and Sahil Thakur made their dreams of a royal wedding come true as they tied the knot at Samode Palace in Rajasthan. The two-day event was jam-packed with fun events that were skillfully captured by WeddingSutra Favorite – Happyframes.
How They Met
The couple shares, “We first met on a train to Goa. Both of us were heading for a national competition in Goa and were a part of the large entourage of Delhi University students. We hit it off instantly. Once the event was done, we never stopped talking! We dated for eight years before getting hitched in January 2023.”
Wedding Planning
Photographing their wedding was Happyframes who with their expertise captured the couple’s adorable moments as well as candid emotions. Kanupriya shares, “Right from the brief to the execution part of it, I think every detail was kept in mind by Happyframes and was executed perfectly. When you get busy with all the wedding tasks, you don’t want to have the responsibility of explaining your vision repeatedly to your vendors. We had one phone call before the wedding and after that, everything was handled by the team very well. I think they were also very persistent with the interviews they had to take, they were making sure that all the shots were taken. So even if you don’t have time, they make sure to cover everything so that you won’t regret it later because photographs are the most important memories you take back from an event.
After the entire wedding coverage, the way they orchestrated the Instagram reels was also very impressive. The way they created a whole story in the short reels and the angles they took – it couldn’t be better!”
Wedding Functions
Mehndi
Soaked in the rich cultural hues of Rajasthan, the mehndi was a vibrant celebration brimming with games, local delicacies and parasols. Since the couple were keen on keeping the authentic flavour of Rajasthan in each of their events, there were folk dancers to entertain the guests while they got henna patterned on their palms.
Cocktail
The bride shares, “The cocktail was set with the backdrop of the palace facade. It felt like a fairytale when both of us walked down the palace stairs and everyone was down there to receive us. We exchanged our rings and then the event turned into a music and dance festival! The delicate blooms paired with foliage lit up by gold lights looked stunning against the starry sky.”
Haldi
Kanupriya shares, “The haldi was by the infinity pool with the view of the hills. The weather on this particular day was ideal for an outdoor celebration under the sun! While both of us were dressed in yellow, the guests followed the dress code of ivory and gold.”
Wedding
Kanupriya shares, “For the wedding, we went all out with a regal theme. The varmala took place in the palace courtyard on the balcony and as the garlands were exchanged, cold pyros flanked were burst. For the pheras a minimalistic open-air mandap was created. And, right after the rituals, we celebrated by cutting a cake and popping champagne against a plush mirror work backdrop.”
