Karuna and Dhrumil, Jaipur
In a jaw-dropping entry, it was the bride who rode in on a horse ‘like a boss’ in her bridal outfit and jeans!
A journey of friendship to eternity, Karuna and Dhrumil’s love story found its culmination in a spectacular wedding at an awe-inspiring palatial setting in the royal city of Jaipur.
The couple entrusted WeddingSutra Favorite – 7X-Weddings to plan their great Indian wedding while WeddingSutra Favorite – Oragraphy captured every second of their memorable celebrations.
How they met
Karuna shared nostalgically, “We hail from very different areas in Ahmedabad, and hence never crossed paths. But then, in my second year of college, a friend of mine asked me to tutor her friend who was struggling with a Math problem. Little did I know, that the guy I helped pass his exams, would one day end up being my husband.”
Wedding Venue
“When we started planning the wedding, the first thing we did was pin down the theme and vibe. We envisioned either a royal palace wedding or a beach wedding. But the one thing we were certain of, was that we preferred a single building structure to maintain cohesion and ease for the guests as well as family for better logistical coordination as compared to a spread-out resort structure. Our research took us to many grand venues across several cities before zeroing in Hotel Fairmont Jaipur”, says Karuna, “The property was spectacular, and it checked all our boxes”.
Wedding Planning
When the couple started planning their wedding, choosing the ideal wedding coordinator was a no-brainer. 7X – Weddings had been organizing amazing celebrations for their family since 2015 and hence was the obvious choice. They left no stone unturned in ensuring that the couple had the wedding of their dreams. The bride goes on to share her experience with them, “We have had a long-standing relationship with Rajat Sogani and Devang Shah of 7X – Weddings, and like all their previous projects, their work on our wedding too, was simply flawless and so very professional. They were attentive to our vision and expectations and delivered on all of them effortlessly, whilst adding their own flair to give it that special touch. The highlight was the extravagant wedding entry that they planned and executed to perfection, which exceeded all our expectations.
With a wedding across 2 cities, the couple wanted a skilled photographer, who would capture gorgeous clicks and who could also oscillate between both their chosen locations. So, after much research, they picked the talented team of Oragraphy who fit the role perfectly. Makeup artist Aanal Savaliya gave her a radiant visage for her Mehndi function in Ahmedabad, while Bianca Louzado created all her gorgeous looks for her functions in Jaipur.
Wedding Functions
Mehndi
The celebrations kick-started with the bride’s intimate Mehndi party, which was followed by a Mehndi cum Sangeet function for all their guests in the couple’s hometown of Ahmedabad, which highlighted traditional decor in warm, vibrant hues. The bride wore a quirky lehenga outfit from Papa Don’t Preach by Shubhika with fresh flower jewelry that added oodles of charm to the bride’s stunning look. While the groom coordinated his outfit beautifully as he arrived wearing a colorful ensemble by designer Deepak Parwani.
Haldi
The festivities in Jaipur kicked off with a colorful Haldi ceremony complete with an eclectic decor of flowers interspersed with drapes. Karuna looked every bit the chic-contemporary bride in a colorful outfit from Aisha Rao that she playfully accessorized with sunglasses and floral jewelry, while the groom looked dapper in a white kurta and yellow Bandi jacket by Deepak Parwani.
Wedding
The grandeur and opulence of the wedding ceremony orchestrated by 7X – Weddings left everyone awe-struck from the moment they graced the venue. The sprawling setup looked ethereal and appeared to be right out of a fancy movie set. It was composed of a sweet medley of diyas, candles, floral drapes and chandeliers all placed strategically to enhance the gorgeous interiors. The warm lighting blended with the red glow of the props, to create a magical atmosphere. The highlight of the function was the bride’s entry, with the scintillating bride arriving in her bridal getup and jeans as she sportingly danced her way in over a ceremonial horse. After the showstopping entry, she made her traditional entry under a phoolon ki chaadar in a shimmering all-red lehenga by designers Falguni and Shane Peacock, which the groom matched handsomely with his red sherwani from Deepak Parwani.
Carnival
The Wedding function was followed by a spectacular Carnival function the next day. The couple donned matching outfits with quirky prints and embellishments in orange and blue by Shivan & Narresh. They made heads turn as they made their grand entry accompanied by a kaleidoscopic entourage of Russian dancers and color bombs. The decor by 7X – Weddings was vibrant yet breezy in pastel tones of orange and blue for the day function, and DJ Mr ProBeat X Maultek kept the guests entertained and on their feet, dancing through the entire afternoon.
Reception
The final highlight of their 4-day wedding extravaganza was the Reception cum Sangeet function. The psychedelic decor with white floral embellishments and LED signs created a trance-like environment, and the bride’s purple-hued layered lehenga and the groom’s shimmering black outfit both from Amit Aggarwal were the perfect choice for the occasion. The guests were entranced by singer Rajdeep Chatterjee’s melodious tunes, while the rocking beats of Mr ProBeat X Maultek once again, had everyone grooving for hours.
Advice for Couples
“One of the most important learning experiences for us, was to be equally involved in the planning process. It gives you a deeper insight into each other’s mind and is a rich bonding experience.
The other thing we would recommend is to get all your bookings confirmed in legal contracts to ensure professional and efficient deliveries by your vendors of choice.” Karuna backs this point as she shares, “Getting a top-notch Mehndi artist was a lesson in foolproof wedding planning which is definitely something I would like to advise other brides-to-be. Even though I booked my artist months in advance, there were a lot of coordination issues and cross-booking, and sadly, my vendor backed off from his commitment just days before the wedding which was a lot of unnecessary stress. Even though I managed to get a henna artist last minute, it was all very stressful, and I would earnestly urge everyone to get all your bookings confirmed in written contracts to avoid this. My mehndi finally was done by Kinjal Paresh Patel, and I couldn’t be happier with her work”.
