Kashmira and Purvesh, Mumbai
Their Cirque le Soir themed sangeet with a carousel bar will leave you inspired
Within just a few minutes of spending time with each other, Purvesh and Kashmira found that they were completely at ease. Taking this as a sign, the two agreed to spending a lifetime together and soon a grand wedding was underway. Two WeddingSutra Favorites – Milestones to Memories and Vivaah – The Wedding Decor Stylist, put together a grand celebration for them by taking charge of the planning and decoration, respectively. The couple invited their guests to the festivities with beautiful invitations designed by another WeddingSutra Favorite – Itchha Talreja Designs.
The bride shares with us the highlights of this marvellous celebration.
How They Met
“Purvesh and I met over lunch in Pune. Since we were meeting each other for the first time, we were both a little nervous. However, ten minutes into the meeting all our jitters vanished.
We come from two entirely different professions – one of us runs hotels and the other, being a doctor, runs in hospitals! While we thought that this would leave us with little to talk about, in reality, the dissimilarities only fuelled our conversation and gave us a world of topics to discuss!
Today, we’re happily married and thankful to God and our parents for helping us make what has been the best decision of our lives!”
Wedding Venue
“The venue for our sangeet, mehndi and wedding was the Grand Hyatt Mumbai. This is a hotel that is loved by both our families. Their ballrooms spell elegance and grandeur and created the perfect ambiance for our big day. The service and food are impeccable, making it the perfect choice.”
Wedding Planning
“Milestones to Memories, our wedding planners, were exceptional and they knew just how to fulfil our requirements. Aarti and her team had planned the wedding of my brother-in-law Vihang to Anahita at Taj Falaknuma Palace and won our trust. This time too, they planned a phenomenal affair and gave us the best memories of our lives!
The decor was conceptualized and executed by Rachana Lucknowala and her team at Vivaah – The Wedding Decor Stylist. They added pizzazz to our festivities with their wonderful setups.
We had Itchha Talreja Designs crafting our wedding invitations. The company is known for their ability to translate their client’s ideas into beautiful designs – they did a fabulous job with our invites.
Vardan Nayak was my makeup artist and our wedding was photographed by Israni Photography.”
Wedding Functions
Sangeet
“The sangeet is one of the most awaited nights at Indian weddings and we wanted to rev up the excitement with an interesting and lively theme. Cirque le Soir was the inspiration behind this event. It instantly transported our guests to the eccentric London club. Red dominated the decor and we had lots of drapes and yellow bulbs as part of the setup. The highlight was the bar that was designed to look like a carousel. We even had a man walking on stilts, a clown on a unicycle and a mirror man for entertainment.
Mehndi
“Our mehndi had a Greek theme with blue and white ruling the decor. We had a colossal floral entryway, with fresh blooms wrapped around a rectangular frame. On either side, we placed large vases filled with flowers. We had diwans with patterns in the colors of Santorini dotting the venue along with colored poufs. To bring in some bling, we made use of dreamcatchers crafted with gota patti.”
Wedding
“A Maratha-themed wedding was orchestrated for us by Milestones to Memories and Vivaah – The Wedding Decor Stylist. A lot of flowers in pink and white were brought in to liven up the space. We even created a section dedicated to the deities we are most devoted to in order to ensure that our new beginning was auspicious. Our grand mandap sat inside the ballroom with a backdrop of lush foliage and pink blooms. Tassels were created using flowers hung from the roof and a large floral chandelier was suspended from the center. The setup for this day was elegant and just as we wanted it to be.”
Advice For Couples
“Start planning well in advance so that you can take your time with decisions. Try on as many lehengas and gowns as you want, and don’t forget to have fun during the process. It’s the little things like having chai with your mother-in-law post-shopping, planning surprise dances with the groom’s friends and unplanned family dinners that will stay with you forever! Enjoy the wedding preparations as much as the wedding.”
