Kavya Shah and Lukas Hahn’s wedding was a thoughtful celebration that brought together heritage, culture and nature across some of Gujarat’s most distinctive settings. Designed and planned by WeddingSutra Favorite – Artistry Events, every event was rooted in its surroundings, allowing historic architecture, open landscapes and local traditions to shape the experience.
Wedding Planning
Designed as an intimate celebration, the wedding stayed true to the character of each venue instead of relying on elaborate transformations. Artistry Events approached every function with a simple design philosophy, enhancing the natural beauty of the locations while preserving their identity. Whether it was a 92-year-old haveli, the forests of Hidimbavan Thol or the desert landscapes of Dasada, each setting inspired a distinct experience that felt authentic and personal.
Speaking about the vision, Aakash Shah of Artistry Events shares, “The idea was never to change the venues but to celebrate what already existed. Every location had its own character, and our role was to enhance it while creating an experience that reflected the family’s roots and the local culture.” He adds, “We wanted every event to offer something meaningful, whether through regional food, local craftsmanship or traditional music. It wasn’t just about the décor but about creating moments where guests from different cultures could genuinely connect with the traditions around them.”
Wedding Functions
Family Dinner
The celebrations began with an intimate family dinner under the stars at the 92-year-old haveli. The décor respected the home’s original character, with traditional diwans, heirloom paintings, courtyard planters and mature trees becoming part of the overall design. Soft pink roses with hints of yellow added a gentle layer of colour without taking away from the architecture. Guests also experienced the traditional craft of Indian block printing, where the German families tried their hand at creating prints with natural dyes, making it a memorable cultural exchange.
Brunch
The brunch unfolded amidst the wilderness of Hidimbavan Thol, where the landscape itself became the focal point. White daisies, a rustic swing and an abundant grazing table blended naturally into the surroundings, creating a relaxed setting. In a tribute to the bride’s maternal heritage, authentic South Indian chefs were brought in to prepare a regional brunch. Every practical detail, from arranging a snake catcher on-site to providing mosquito repellent, was carefully planned so guests could comfortably enjoy the forest setting.
Welcome Lunch
Rustic cottages and traditional bungas surrounded by greenery offered one backdrop, while the vast desert landscape created a striking contrast for the remaining celebrations.
A welcome lunch introduced guests to the weekend with a palette of white and gold, while fragrant rajnigandha flowers added a subtle sensory element. Personalised gifts reflected the family’s warmth and made guests feel especially welcomed.
Sangeet
The Sangeet celebrated Gujarati culture with festoon lights, colourful bunting and marigold flowers. A Garba instructor guided guests through the traditional dance, allowing everyone, including the German guests, to participate with confidence. Staying true to the evening’s theme, the celebrations featured only traditional Gujarati Garba music, complemented by a specially curated regional dinner. As the night progressed under the full moon, the festivities transitioned into an energetic after-party with disco lights and dancing, while also celebrating the bride’s 30th birthday.
Lagna
The wedding ceremony took place beneath the open desert skies, where deep crimson accents paired with layers of ivory flowers created a setting that was elegant yet understated. In a thoughtful gesture that helped bridge cultures, the bride’s sister narrated the entire wedding ceremony in English, allowing the groom’s family and friends from Germany to understand the significance of each ritual. The celebrations concluded with an intimate karaoke night that brought family and friends together one last time, ending the wedding on a joyful and personal note.
