Wedding Planning
Hosted at Taj Mahal Lucknow, the couple’s cross-cultural wedding looked beautiful against the property’s regal facade nestled along the banks of river Gomti. Indulging the guests while ensuring the couple and their wedding squad had everything they needed for the union, the venue left nothing to chance with their impeccable hospitality.
Planning a multicultural wedding is not an easy feat as one has to keenly understand the intricacies of both the cultures and source materials that aren’t always readily available to orchestrate the events. Rising up to this challenge elegantly was Baraati Inc who accurately understood the couple’s needs as Krishna, the bride hails from Kerala and Kanav, her groom hails from Lucknow. Unique themes and an ode to the couple’s respective cultures were the backbone of each event which was enjoyed by people of all ages.
Capturing their unique wedding was Shutterdown who with their friendly banter and expertise behind the lenses coaxed the couple out of their shells to film adorable candid moments. Additionally, the confluence of the two cultures was also beautifully photographed as the team were on their toes throughout the wedding.
Mehendi
Shweta Acharya from Baraati Inc shares, “The three days of grand festivities kicked off with an intimate mehndi celebration. It was hosted on the bridal suite lawns of the venue where the bride along with her squad applied henna on their palms.”
Dakshina Kodukkal
Shikha Chauhan from Baraati Inc shares, “In this event the bride and the groom touch the feet of elders in the family, seeking their blessings. The groom and his family are received at the entrance by the bride’s family members with Thalappoli and Nadaswaram (traditional instrumental music). Thalappoli is a brass plate adorned with a lamp, hand fan and flowers and carried in a procession by ladies and led by the Nadaswaram team. Other typical items used in this procession are the Ashtamangalyam and Changala Vatta (traditional lamp). The handwoven, white or cream cotton set-saree embroidered with pure gold Zari thread work with a suitable blouse is the traditional outfit for ladies. While white and gold cotton dhotis and silk or cotton shirts or kurtas for men. Fresh jasmine flowers are extensively used and are one of the most important elements of weddings in Kerala. The white colour of this wedding flower signifies purity and elegance.
However, the highlight of the event was Kaikottikali – a traditional dance form performed by ladies of the family during the ceremony seeking blessings from god for eternal marital bliss and prosperity. Since It was a multicultural wedding where the bride was from Kerala and the groom from Lucknow, we had customized booklets explaining the rituals so the guests knew exactly what each ritual signified. We placed petal cones for the guests to shower the couple with flowers. “
Cocktail
Shweta shares, “The Cocktail night was a night full of glamour, from the couple making a grand entrance through a tunnel of handheld pyro guns by their closest friends. Customized bar menus were created. The evening was hosted by their best friends followed by performances dedicated to the couple by their friends and families. The guests danced their way till the after-hours at the amazing music which kept people of all age groups grooving. We executed a full-blown Neon After Party once the band performance commenced where guests had various neon props to get clicked with. For the after-party, we had a DJ and a percussionist.”
Haldi
Shikha shares, “The couple entered with a bang followed by their troupe with colour bombs and dholwalas. Since the event was hosted under a sunny sky, we had refreshments like customized coconuts for everyone to sip on. Cute giveaways like baby’s breath handbands were given to the ladies to adorn themselves. The event had activities like giant Jenga for people of all age groups to enjoy. The highlight of the event was when the groom squad drenched the groom in beer to get some crazy shots!”
Wedding & Reception
Shweta shares, “The evening started with the groom looking dapper in his vintage car while his friends and family danced their way to the wedding venue. The groom waited eagerly at the Jaimala stage while his bride walked down the grand staircase of the Taj Lucknow. Guests showered the couple with rose petals that were given to them in organza pouches while the couple exchanged garlands. Cute brass bells were distributed to the guests to ring at the culmination of the wedding ceremony. The wedding was followed by a Coke Studio-inspired reception where a live band ensured that the guests had the most soulful and magical evening.”
