Mahima and Harsh, Golden Tulip, Panchkula
For childhood sweethearts Mahima and Harsh, a chance meeting years later rekindled the flame that would last a lifetime.
The gorgeous wedding of this photographer jodi was held in a sprawling estate a little outside Delhi. Planned & Designed by WeddingSutra Favorite – Baraati Inc, the celebrations were captured by another WeddingSutra Favorite – Nikhil Shastri. Here are a few glimpses from the festivities.
How they met
They met in high school, dated for a bit and then Mahima and Harsh went their separate ways. Fate however had a trick up her sleeve. When they bumped into each other five years later, they decided to get a drink. Grown-ups now, they went on to have a seven-year courtship and start a business together! Finally, they decided to cement a more personal partnership too.
The proposal
Harsh decided to ditch the OTT proposal and do something truer to form. He says, “Some of our close friends are a huge part of our lives. We spend a lot of time with them and I thought, what better than to propose in their midst. So I invited everyone to a sundowner. Mahima has a nose for sniffing out surprises so to throw her off I told her we were heading to a proposal of another friend.”
“He has never been one for grand gestures of love,” Mahima says, “but he sang me a song and told me all the reasons he loves me. He managed to sweep me off my feet with the most romantic proposal ever!”
Wedding Venue
“We wanted all the feels of a destination wedding with none of the added logistics so a standalone property a little way out of Delhi was the ideal venue. We found everything we dreamed of at Golden Tulips in Panchkula; amazing catering, bartending and DJ services as well! It really pared down the excessive planning.”
Wedding Planning

For her trousseau, Mahima hit the trendiest shopping spots in Delhi like HKV, GK and Chandni Chowk, with an entourage of her friends and her mom.
As part of the photographer fraternity, a large part of the guest list comprised photographers. Result? A plethora of gorgeous shots! Their official photographer however, was Nikhil Shastri, who captured the wedding in gorgeous frames.
Wedding Functions
Haldi
The haldi held by the pool was like a postcard with pops of yellow, orange and fuchsia in a picturesque contrast with the clear blue skies and lush greenery. A suffusion of marigolds and seating arrangements decked up in Rajasthani mirror-work added an ethnic pique to the visuals.
The bride herself, in a yellow sari with fuchsia floral jewelry was a vision of summer! The guests showered rose petals and confetti on the couple as they were doused in turmeric paste, and then splashed into the pool.
Cocktail
Vibrant colors continued to dominate as the cocktail evening rolled in, rendered in elements like kites, candles and pompoms. The favor tables were strewn with jhoomar earrings and bangles which sparkled in the play of lights. The groom and his friends performed a few dances before the DJ took over and everyone hit the dance floor.
Wedding
After the fun and frivolity of the days prior, the wedding day dawned with a sense of sacred serenity. The Anand Karaj was a tranquil ceremony, its significance accentuated by sophisticated décor in blush with delicate floral accents.
The groom’s safa and dupatta matched the bride’s elegant blush lehenga with pearl embellishments as did the nuptial garlands and the bride’s kaleerein. The ceremony was followed by traditional post-wedding games like finding the ring in a pot of milk.
Reception
The reception was an elegant evening affair at The Ocean Pearl Gardenia set up across a ballroom and an outdoor space. String lights, wooden photo walls and quirky signs added to the rustic charm of the garden décor, while the indoors banquet was kept classy and minimal, and featured a slide show montage of their wedding pictures. The bride wore an embroidered lehenga in midnight blue, while the groom wore an elegant sherwani in matching hues.
