Ryane and Malty, Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort, Indonesia
From a 'Wall Street' themed welcome event to a 'Netflix & Chill' dinner, Malty and Ryane’s wedding included interesting concepts.
Sometimes all it takes is one deeper look, one longer conversation and a few special moments with a friend to realize that he or she is probably your soulmate. The same was true for Malty and Ryane who recently tied the knot at a lavish wedding ceremony celebrated at the Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort in Indonesia.
How We Met
Malty and Ryane were friends who saw their love blossom on a family trip in 1999-2000 for the millennium New Year’s Eve celebrations. A date over a cup of coffee was the pivotal point in their love story as Malty grew fond of Ryane’s ambitious yet humble nature and quirky sense of humour. Ryane, on the other hand, was impressed by Malty’s passion and dedication towards her school for infants called Aerokids. He was amazed by the closeness she shared with her family, especially the kids in her house. The more they spoke and met, the more the two were drawn to each other.
The Proposal
Malty shares, “Ryane is such a bluff master. He had planned a surprise proposal for me and tricked me into believing that we were heading to a friend’s birthday party. As soon as I entered the place, I found Ryane on his knees with a ring in his hand.”
Wedding Venue
“We wanted both an intimate and destination wedding with our dear ones. Bali soon became our favored option. After looking at several hotels in Bali, we knew Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort, offering an extensive choice of opulent indoor and outdoor wedding spaces and unmatched hospitality, was where we wanted our beautiful #DreamToRyAlty to begin.”
Welcome Dinner
Since the stock market is Ryane’s expertise, and New York was the couple’s pre-wedding base, they came up with a Wall Street theme for the evening. The ballroom decor comprised a circle of decorative elements that mimicked the Times Square in New York, enhanced with LED screens. Laid This Nite band gave a feel of the Big Apple with their music that matched the steps of the cabaret dancers performing in the background. The bride made a stunning appearance in a metallic violet gown by Amit Aggarwal, and the groom looked dapper in a Gaurav Gupta tuxedo with a bow tie.
Wedding
The Harjani and Nandwani family decided to incorporate Banarasi fabric into the wedding decor to help promote the work of the women weavers in Varanasi. All family members used the Banarasi fabric in their blush pink and white outfits for the wedding ceremony. They even coordinated their looks by wearing similar orange sunglasses. The couple made a lovely entry by walking under a floral canopy together to their mandap by the beach. The bride picked an elegant red lehenga by Sabyasachi Mukherjee for the pheras, whereas the groom went for a white sherwani by Manish Malhotra along with a red stole.
Reception
Being the only daughter in her family, and the eldest son of his respective family, Malty and Ryane’s parents wanted the best for them, so they picked a ‘Royal Palace’ theme for the reception. Ryane’s parents continued using the Banarasi fabric at the reception. The families danced to their heart’s content at the function which was followed by a rocking performance by singer Guru Randhawa. Malty wore a striking silver lehenga covered in beads, sequins and crystal tassels by Manish Malhotra, and Ryane opted for a shiny, silvery Shantanu & Nikhil kurta.
After Party
The couple wanted their guests to enjoy their stay in Bali and relax before going back to their daily routines. On the third day, they organised a pool party in the afternoon and a ‘Netflix and Chill’ dinner. The pool party included a sumptuous lunch affair, unique cocktails and dancers. The ‘Netflix and Chill’ night was an absolute lazy night that included a movie marathon. Juggy D made guests sway to his music. The couple coordinated their outfits by picking a similar tropical print shirt and crop top by Shivan And Narresh at the pool party. For the dinner, Malty wore a chic dress by Zara Umrigar and teamed it with white sneakers.
Advice for couples
“This is a once in a lifetime experience, so don’t let it stress you out. Instead, make it memorable because, in the end, it will all fall into place when you are marrying the person you love.”
