From the fresh floral decor for the wedding to Manisha’s gorgeous bridal looks curated by WeddingSutra Favorite Ojas Rajani, this couple’s wedding at Taj Lands End in Mumbai was resplendent with color, family bonding, and beautiful frames. Here, bride Manisha shares highlights of her nuptials below.
How we met
“We had been introduced but he was working in Abu Dhabi on an assignment whilst I was in New York City. After months of talking, he decided to visit one weekend and we immediately hit it off. We couldn’t get enough of each other. We spent the entire weekend together doing stuff even though we were both very tired. I knew it was serious when he asked me to meet his parents. Although daunting, I flew down to Dallas to meet them and they were very nice and welcoming. Then when he met my parents, I felt it was a done deal!”
Wedding Proposal
“I had the biggest surprise of my life during a trip to Austin with him. He took me to a peacock sanctuary and got down on one knee and popped the question. I was so shocked I didn’t even answer. He had to ask, ‘Are you going to say yes?’”
Wedding Venue
“I grew up on a Caribbean island and consider myself a seaside girl. I left home at 18 to live in London where I spent a decade and then went over to NYC another cosmopolitan megapolis. So we decided to get married in Mumbai, specifically the Taj Lands End – there was the buzz of the city but I would still be able to have my wedding by the ocean.
Our pre-wedding ceremonies were hosted in Valsad, Gujarat where my dad grew up. It meant a lot to him to have me do some ceremonies there. It was the perfect combination since I was able to experience the big fat authentic Indian pre-wedding in the village, as well as the more intimate wedding in Taj Lands End.”
Wedding Functions
Wedding
“I wanted an outdoors wedding with a regal theme so opted for floral decorationsin tones of red to complement the green palm trees at the Taj Lands End poolside lawns.” Manisha chose a bright red lehenga from Anita Dongre with embroidery details in gold. Her bridal look was complete with a layered kundan necklace, a statement choker, maang tikka and gorgeous earrings.
Reception
“My husband and I are both fans of travelling so we had a travel-themed reception. We gave out luggage tags as favors, and each table centerpiece was a bouquet of flowers held together in a vase that had a travel-themed word.”
The reception itself was glamorous and glitzy with lots of glimmer and gold. Bright lights and marquee initials had the entire venue look chic and dreamy. Manisha wore a gorgeous creation by Sabyasachi while Haren looked dapper in a classic black tuxedo.
Advice for Couples
“Enjoy the moment as it goes by in such a flash. Months and months of preparation and then the wedding seems to go by so quickly. Keep in mind you’re making memories for a lifetime!”
