Mehandi and Shivam, Jaipur
This bride effortlessly channeled her inner Maharani in a traditional gold lehenga paired with a red bandhani dupatta and heavy kundan jewelry.
Surrounded by their loved ones and magnificent heritage architecture, Mehandi Aggarwal and Shivam Saraf’s wedding looked straight out of a desi fairytale. Photographed by WeddingSutra Favorite – Sam & Ekta who used their creativity to capture stunning stills, this wedding struck the perfect balance between modern and traditional elements to create a celebration that left everyone dazzled.
How They Met
Mehandi shares, “Shivam and I first crossed paths at a club in London where we actually got into an argument. But, later that night, he found me on Facebook and got in touch with me virtually to apologize. We were in touch for about two to three months but then unfortunately, we somehow lost touch for four years. However, as fate would have it, he texted me again and after four months of talking to him, I realized that this is it! Soon after, we got engaged and even though there was no formal proposal on the cards as such, I did go down on one knee for him on his birthday and presented him with a ring.”
Wedding Planning
When it came to wedding photography, the duo acknowledged the importance of having a skilled photographer on the team. And in their quest to find a photographer who would understand their vision, they came upon Sam & Ekta with whom they struck a rapport instantly. Impressed by their work, the happy bride shares, “ Both our families along with Shivam and I are completely in love with Sam & Ekta’s work. Their work is so phenomenal, personal, and unique. Each image that they’ve clicked is so natural and personal that one can literally attend the wedding again by just looking at the photos. Their entire team gave out positive energy throughout the nuptials and were effortlessly good. We loved working with them!”
Their wedding was meticulously planned by Touchwood Group. The bride says, “ They are like a family to us now. Their problem solving and finding immediate solutions is their asset and that’s much needed in weddings and specially with COVID making it worse.”
Weddings Functions
Gaur
Mehandi shares, “The Gaur was a simple, homely function, and keeping this in mind, the decor consisted of a chaddar and flowers that were placed behind my seat. Overall, it was an intimate function where all my family members blessed me before the wedding.”
Alfresco Lunch/Bhaat
“Cozy, and exuding summery, boho vibes, this event consisted of teepee tents, an entrance brimming with Turkish Kilims, pampas grass, beige and ivory drapes paired with macramé and rustic wooden furniture. Although the function started off on a traditional note, it was eventually followed by a champagne brunch which left everyone in good spirits.”
Sangeet
“For this function, I wanted a lounge vibe balanced by homely elements. And, in order to make this vision come true, each table was adorned with unconventional pieces like typewriters and many other quirky showpieces. Additionally, we organized live teppanyaki in the middle of the lounge to give it more of a personalized restaurant feel. In the end, it was a cheerful function where all our family members took the dance floor by storm and made heartfelt speeches.”
Haldi
“For the Haldi, I wanted the decor to be very fresh with fruits and birds of paradise instead of the traditional ‘all yellow’ decor. To ensure the success of our chosen theme, there was no yellow allowed at the function, and in place of haldi, we used fruit pulp in coconut shells. Dressed in peach and pink hues, everyone was at their playful best at the function and enthusiastically took part in the phoolon ki holi at the end.”
Wedding
“I’d always wanted to have my phere in a temple and I was lucky enough to have my wish granted! Since I wasn’t in favor of having a typical mandap with a covering, we had four fresh banana trees with gold brass leaves, brass pots with lotuses and rajnigandha blooms to resemble a garden. Additionally, the pond was also decorated with lotuses, candles, and diyas. For the seating, the amphitheater was used to the fullest from where the guests could have a clear view of the wedding. However, the highlight of the evening was Siddharth Mohan who performed at the phere for us and made the entire occasion feel incredibly pristine!”
Reception
“Following a deep purple and burgundy color story, the reception emanated royal yet cozy vibes. Adorned with plush velvet drapes, mirror-clad walls, paintings and love quotes, it was a glamorous occasion that was punctuated with a stunning performance by singer Jubin Nautiyal.”
