Melissa and Ashley, Baia Beach Club, Malta
The groom's yacht entry and the bride's vintage convertible car entry is a must see!
Melissa and Ashley first met in Melbourne, and tied the knot in Malta, against the beautiful backdrop of Armier Bay. WeddingSutra Favorite – AbhiSakshi Photography captured all the special moments of the lovely, laidback occasion in candid frames. The bride Melissa shares their story below.
How They Met
“We met five years ago while I was backpacking, and Ashley had been in Australia for around a year. It was my first night in Melbourne, and an old friend of mine dragged me out to get a few drinks and dinner even though I didn’t want to go out after arriving late from Perth. I met Ashley at a bar in St. Kilda for the first time, and as we got into talking, I found out that we lived 30 minutes from each other in the UK. We eventually swapped numbers at the end of the night, which eventually led us to exchange our wedding vows a few years later.”
The Proposal
“Ashley proposed to me the night before my 30th birthday. We went down to our local beach to watch the sunset, and suddenly he was on one knee. His brother was hiding in the dunes and caught the moment on camera. He came out after I said ‘Yes,’ with a bottle of champagne to celebrate.”
Wedding
They picked Baia Beach Club in Malta for the wedding as it offered a breathtaking backdrop of the clear blue waters of Armier Bay. Keeping in mind the vibe of the venue, the theme for the wedding was ‘Beach Chill’. The couple decided to keep the decor subtle and minimal to not take away from the natural beauty of Armier Bay. Candles and flowers were extensively used for decorations that fit the sunset ambiance. Going with the relaxed mood, Ashley made an entry to the venue on a yacht, drinking with his groom’s squad. He wore a plain white shirt with beige shorts. All the groomsmen were dressed in similar co-ordinated outfits. The bride, on the other hand, looked stunning in a dreamy white bustier gown with floral motifs and a long train with a white net veil. She entered the venue in a red, open car, and was escorted by her father till the altar where the couple exchanged rings against the azure waters at the golden hour.
After their wedding rituals got over, the couple took to the stage and danced all night long with their loved ones.
Advice For Couples
“Around 80% of the excitement is in the things leading up to the main event. So, try to enjoy the planning phase as much as the wedding day.”
