Naseha and Mashrur, Thailand
The couple's nikaah ceremony in Thailand was a sight to behold with beautiful natural backdrops and impressive decor.
Naseha and Mashrur’s traditional Muslim wedding in Thailand was planned by WeddingSutra Favorite – I Do Etc., and impressed all with its diverse themes and delightful natural backdrops. Captured creatively by another WeddingSutra Favorite – Anoop.Photography, here’s how the festivities unfolded.
How They Met
Naseha met Mashrur in Toronto, Canada, where the couple were pursuing their higher education. They randomly met at a gym and exchanged numbers which led to the non-stop back and forth of messages all day. One thing led to another, and even before the couple could fathom what was happening, they were in love!
The Proposal
The much-awaited proposal took place on Valentine’s Day in 2018. Mashrur arranged a private dinner away from the city, and he had the venue decorated with balloons, roses and candles. After a four-course dinner and a few rounds of champagne, Mashrur kneeled down to pop the question to which Naseha said ‘Yes!’
Wedding Venue
Groom Mashrur shares, “Thailand was always on Naseha’s mind as her dream wedding venue. Shortly after she and I started dating, we planned a holiday there and fell in love with the Sheraton Hua Hin Resort because of its beautiful ambience, food and the massive lagoon. We decided that if we were going to have a destination wedding outside Bangladesh, Sheraton Hua Hin was going to be the venue!”
Wedding Planning
Talking about the process of planning the wedding, Mashrur adds, “We visited the I Do Etc. team in Thailand to finalize the wedding dates and theme. The entire team is extremely professional and experts at what they do. They immediately understood our taste and preferences and shared ideas to plan our dream wedding. Although we did face some challenges in selecting vendors due to the dates of our wedding, the team at I Do Etc. ensured that everything eventually unfolded smoothly.”
Wedding Functions
Welcome Dinner
The wedding celebrations began with a welcome dinner hosted at the Luna Lanai Ocean & Beachfront Restaurant. The tranquility of the beachside restaurant with mellow jazz music provided the perfect ambience for the event.
Engagement
Naseha and Mashrur’s engagement ceremony took place at the oceanfront lawn of the resort. With a fairytale theme, the ceremony had whimsical decor comprising a gigantic castle erected on the stage along with massive parachutes, arches and other floral embellishments. The magnificent ocean gave the occasion a perfect emerald backdrop.
Holud
Naseha and Mashrur’s ‘Holud’ or the haldi ceremony was a boisterous affair dominated by vibrant colours and a fun vibe. Colourful canopies with day loungers were set up for guests to relax in, while the rest of the decor included vibrant umbrellas, flowers and massive butterfly cut-outs.
Sangeet
The sangeet was held at the glamorous ballroom of the resort, and the theme for the evening had traditional Arabic elements. With intricate motifs, creatively placed lighting and musical instruments like traditional drums, I Do Etc. turned the sangeet into a rich sensorial experience for the guests.
Nikaah
The nikaah or marriage ceremony of Naseha and Mashrur featured opulent decor that included a pristine white mandap decorated with dainty, colourful blooms and majestic chandeliers. The traditional rituals concluded with beautiful fireworks that enhanced the colors and festive vibe of the occasion.
Reception
The nikaah ceremony was followed by a grand reception held at the Sheraton Hua Hin Ballroom. The soiree had a stunning decor setup complete with flowy drapes, floral arrangements and glass embellishments. I Do Etc. ensured that the reception was an enjoyable event for the guests with special dancers putting up spectacular dance and trapeze performances for them.
