Nasthasia and Sharan, Mumbai

A confluence of opulent décor and warm traditions enveloped the couple as they took their vows against the majestic Arabian Sea.

Brought together by fate not once but twice, Mumbai based Nasthasia Walia and Sharan Puri celebrated their unique love story with an intimate celebration at the beautiful ocean-front Taj Lands End, Mumbai. Here are a few glimpses of their celebrations.

How they met

The bride shares, “We were brought together by fate not once, but twice! The first time we met was on a flight on our way to Goa for our friends’ pre-wedding celebrations. He was on team bride while I was part of team groom, and we developed an instant connection that we continued to pursue even after we returned to Mumbai. We stayed in touch and over time became the best of friends. Little did we know that while we were going about our lives as good friends, our parents would be introduced to each other by a mutual friend suggesting our match in marriage. Things just fell into place after that.”

Wedding Planning

After their original plans of a grand wedding in Chandigarh got derailed by the Pandemic, Nasthasia and Sharan decided to tie the knot in an intimate setting, with just their friends and family at Taj Lands End, Mumbai. The invites for the wedding were designed by WeddingSutra Favourite – Radhika Pitti Studio, as well as the bride’s own design house. The festivities were planned by Divinity Weddings and executed by Gurleen M Puri, while the moments were captured by Say Cheeze Photography.

Wedding Functions

Mehendi
Inspired by the elegance and the delicate pastel color palette of British tea parties, the outdoor sundowner Mehendi saw a profusion of pretty spring blooms, vintage white furniture, a swing and props. Blooms in hues of pink and lavender looked enchanting against the lush surroundings, and perfectly transitioned the event from day to night. The groom looked radiant in a floral kurta set with a sunny yellow Bandi, while the bride looked dainty in an embellished blush lehenga and hair in soft, open curls.

Haldi and Chooda
The next day began with a vibrant Haldi and Chooda function that exuded joy with its sunny yellow décor. An abundance of marigolds decked every surface for a bright, traditional feel. The bride looked sunkissed in an ivory and yellow lehenga teamed with traditional Punjabi gold jhumke as she was smeared with turmeric paste.

Wedding
The wedding ceremony was a royal affair in red, with a confluence of blooms in decadent hues of red and dark pinks adorning the lush lawns of the hotel. An enchanting canopy of white flower garlands framed the entrance, continuing on to the mandap, while dashes of gold lent even more opulence to the evening. The Sabyasachi couple dazzled in complementing attires of red and gold, and looked like the portrait of happiness as they tied the knot.

Advice for Couples
“My advice to people getting married in the post-pandemic world is to not be disheartened about having to give up their dreams of a grand wedding. Getting to celebrate with just the people you love is a feeling like no other, and if I got the chance to do my wedding all over again, I would still opt for an intimate celebration. It is the only way to truly enjoy every moment of your big day with all those who matter.”
