Nidhi and Aditya, Jaipur
With crystal chandeliers strung from branches and glowing Moroccan brass lamps, this couple's mehndi was a magical affair.
From being professional acquaintances to good friends, Nidhi and Aditya’s relationship evolved steadily and led them all the way to mandap. Their Jaipur wedding was planned and executed by WeddingSutra Favorite – Castles & Coasters. Bride Nidhi shares some highlights here.
How They Met
“When I came back to India from Dubai, I joined my sister-in-law at her startup. After working there for a while, I was introduced to Aditya who was working in the same organization but at a different branch. Over time, we went from colleagues to good friends who’d go out partying all the time. And before we knew it, we were in love!”
The Proposal
“After our roka, he took me for a surprise trip to Turkey, and instinctively, I knew that he was about to pop the question. But throughout the trip, I waited with bated breath as he didn’t make a move. Then finally, our last day of the trip came and he still didn’t propose as I’d expected over dinner. Crestfallen, I made my way back to the Airbnb we were staying in and to my absolute surprise, that’s where he went down on one knee! Additionally, he also had a GoPro camera tucked in the corner which captured the entire proposal.”
Wedding Venue
“Aditya had always wanted a cozy wedding, whereas I had always dreamt of a grand celebration surrounded by my close friends and family. While scouting for venues, we conducted an extensive search on properties from Udaipur to Pushkar. We wanted a venue that could accommodate our large guest list. Finally, we had our ‘Eureka!’ moment with the JW Marriott Jaipur Resort & Spa which was built by one of my uncles. In my opinion, this hotel is absolutely perfect for Indian weddings with its beautiful architecture and extremely accommodating staff. Each demand was met with a smile and executed perfectly! For the sangeet, we chose to go for The Gulmohar which stunned us all with its beauty.”
Wedding Planning
Keeping in mind the challenges of executing a grand destination wedding, the duo hired Castles & Coasters. Nidhi shares, “The entire team of Castle & Coasters was easy to work with and they knew exactly what we wanted from day one. Their love for their work was evident in every aspect of the wedding and we are so happy with the way everything was done.”
Adding to the team were makeup artist Nidhi Agarwal, photographer The Wedding Story, decor executors Touch Wood and entertainers Mansheel Gujral, Meet Brothers, and Shanay Shah along with emcee Sid who kept everyone’s spirits high.
Weddings Functions
Mehndi
Starting the celebrations off with a laid back mehndi at the JW Marriott Jaipur Resort & Spa, Nidhi and Aditya made the most of their time under the sunshine as they and their loved ones got henna patterns applied on their hands. Surrounded by blooms and seated on a swing, Nidhi was all smiles for the camera, while her relatives shook a leg to the beats of the dhol.
Following the close-knit celebrations was a grand mehndi party for all the guests. Nidhi shares, “The color palette for this event followed a pastel theme with sheer pastel canopies sheltering us from the sun. Additionally, we also had numerous games and a tarot card reader to keep everyone entertained. Singer Mansheel Gujral entertained the gathering with her beautiful melodies.”
Sangeet
“For the sangeet hosted at the palatial The Gulmohar, Aditya and I made an entrance side by side and we were heralded by firecrackers and a song. The decor followed a distinctly Moroccan theme which we’d chosen keeping the breezy surroundings in mind. We all had a lot of fun shaking a leg on stage and watching others perform too. Meet Brothers gave an epic performance that bought the house down!”
Haldi
“Our South Indian-themed haldi was crafted carefully, and we had elements such as a big square pooja stool, huge antique brass bowls and yellow blooms that were artfully scattered everywhere. Also, a huge plus point was the venue itself which was an open terrace that highlighted each aspect of the decor and color palette.”
Wedding
“We tied the knot on the Sundarban Lawns of the JW Marriott Jaipur Resort & Spa and decided to go for a classy decor. Elements like fresh tuberoses, bells, and classic lacework archways adorned our mandap. Since it was an open-air event, we made sure that the guests had plenty of seating options available with lights flooding the entire lawn, giving them an unhindered view of the venue and proceedings.”
Reception
Ending the celebrations on a high note, the couple hosted a glitzy reception where guests entered the venue through an LED entrance tunnel. The massive stage was where all the action unfolded as the newlyweds celebrated their first evening together as man and wife. Thanks to Shanay Shah’s music, the celebrations went on till the wee hours of the night.
Advice For Couples
“Stay away from the planning as much as you can and leave it to the professionals who will take care of everything. In my case, I placed complete trust in my team and wasn’t let down even once. Also, pay close attention to hospitality and greet your guests personally from the welcome to the farewell as that will make them feel special.”
