Nidhi and Rahul, Radisson Blu Udaipur Palace Resort & Spa
Their sangeet with a spellbinding performance by celebrity singer Kanika Kapoor had their guests dancing the night away!
Nidhi and Rahul fell in love with each other in a matter of 10 days and got married in three! With this sort of whirlwind romance, the couple were extra keen on making sure their nuptials were recorded for posterity. WeddingSutra Favorite – Feather Tree by Aviraj came on board to preserve their precious moments. The pictures from their celebrations reveal the emotions and love that filled their celebrations. The bride shares highlights from the wedding below.
How They Met
“Rahul is a producer while I am a fashion stylist. We lived in the same building, used the same gym and pool, our dads know each other socially and we’d somehow never crossed paths! We’ve also been on the same movie set or partying in the same bar but we just didn’t have a clue about each other’s existence. Then, a common family friend suggested we exchange numbers. And so began our story. Within 10 days of knowing each other, we knew this was it.”
Wedding Venue
“We looked at properties across the country and our families placed Radisson Blu Udaipur Palace Resort & Spa high on the shortlist. The property is so beautiful, it didn’t need much work in terms of decor, which was perfect.”
Wedding Planning
“As we began looking for a photographer we chanced upon Feather Tree by Aviraj and their style of photography truly stood out. We knew right away they would be able to do justice to our big day and they didn’t disappoint us one bit!”
Wedding Functions
Cocktail Party
“We decided to skip the reception and began the celebrations with a cocktail party in Mumbai. This was such a power-packed evening! DJ Aman had everyone glued to the dance floor with his fabulous playlist. The decor was a play of lights and the marquee that spelled out our names was the piece de resistance! I wore a black Sabyasachi Mukherjee gown to this party and Rahul wore a black tuxedo.”
Sufi Night
“Our celebrations in Udaipur started with a Sufi Night. The tables were covered in deep blue fabric with floral centerpieces. The chairs were adorned with floral wreaths and light drapes. The backdrop for the stage was inspired by the jaali work often seen in Indo-Islamic architecture and was festooned with flowers. Going with the theme for the night, I wore a white sharara by Abhinav Mishra teamed with a maroon velvet dupatta. Rahul went with a black outfit from Tisa Studio.”
Haldi
“The following morning we had our haldi ceremony. We decided to swap the usual all-yellow setup for one that included light pink and imperial purple across all the drapes. Along with the fabric we used marigolds in orange, yellow and white as well as colorful tassels.”
Sangeet
“Black and gold was the color scheme at our sangeet with white roses as glamorous accents. Rahul and I were seated against a backdrop smothered in white blooms. Our loved ones performed and made this evening so memorable. We invited Kanika Kapoor to perform and our guests were enthralled by her repertoire of catchy songs. To this function I wore a fuchsia lehenga by Anita Dongre. Rahul was outfitted in a creation by SS HOMME – Sarah & Sandeep.”
Wedding
“The next day began with the Gaur Pooja. This was followed by the baraat and the wedding. We’d planned the decor for our big day keeping in mind every minute detail. Flowers dominated the set up. Our mandap looked particularly wonderful with pillars bedecked in floral arrangements and a roof made using foliage. I decided to skip the traditional red ensemble and picked a dark green lehenga by Sabyasachi Mukherjee while Rahul wore a dull gold sherwani.”
Advice For Couples
“Stop trying to set a trend with your wedding. Sometimes brides don’t realise that these are moments they are going to look back on for the rest of their lives. In succumbing to the pressure to host a wedding that is very unique, they forget to have fun through the entire process. Don’t get caught up with the little things and have a blast at the wedding because it is your day!”
