Niharika and Trishy, Kerala
Games, gorgeous settings and cheery guests ensured that Trishy and Niharika's wedding was a party at every step.
Pilots Trishy and Niharika fell in love at aviation school and buckled down to a lifetime of togetherness with their fun wedding in Kerala. WeddingSutra Favorite – Sam & Ekta captured their special moments in beautiful frames.
How They Met
Niharika is a third generation aviation professional in her family. She met Trishy when they were both training to be pilots at a flight school in Gondia. They bonded over their mutual passion, became friends and fell in love. The runway from their romance to matrimony was smooth and they opted for a delightful destination wedding in Kerala.
Wedding Planning
Sam & Ekta share, “We spent half a week with Trishy and Niharika in Munnar a couple of months before the wedding. We all just drove around the place and got to know each other better. We got bitten by leeches, trekked for hours to find the elusive Neelakurinji flowers (which didn’t bloom as expected), laughed at silly things and shared warm drinks on particularly chilly nights.” It was Sam & Ekta’s talent and precision combined with their bond with the couple that helped them capture Trishy and Niharika’s stunning and candid moments throughout their wedding.
Wedding Functions
Games Evening
After a grand welcome at the hotel, the wedding festivities began with an entertaining games evening at sunset. The event saw the bride’s and groom’s teams challenge each other with amusing games that filled the air with laughter and a competitive buzz. Both the teams went head-to-head but it was finally Trishy’s team who took home the cup (and the bride). But that’s not where the merrymaking ended, as the guests danced their hearts out. Niharika also asked every guest to spell their wedding hashtag #TriKiNii. The ones who got it wrong had to have a shot of whatever drink they were holding, even multiple shots of it at once.
Mehndi
The next morning began with the mehndi ceremony as Niharika and Trishy surprised everyone as they entered the venue with colored-smoke-bombs and to the beats of the ‘dhol’ (traditional Punjabi drum). The bride wore a bright pink lehenga by Sabyasachi with floral accessories and her groom picked a matching powder pink ensemble. The decor palette included orange and yellow, and lots of flowers. The ceremony involved music, dancing and multiple happy pictures of the bridal entourage by the beach as well. The couple along with the guests, marked the end of the ceremony by letting go of pink and white balloons with the #TriKiiNii hashtag signage.
Haldi
The mehndi ceremony was followed by the traditional haldi as the guests gathered to apply splashes of turmeric to the couple. Niharika wore an Anita Dongre outfit and Trishy wore a complementing shade of yellow for this auspicious ritual.
Sangeet
The evening saw a remarkable sangeet ceremony hosted in the hotel’s ballroom as Niharika and Trishy’s friends and family performed some unforgettable dance numbers. The couple also performed on several numbers together, leaving everyone cheering for them. The bride dazzled in an ornate ombre gown by Falguni Shane Peacock while the groom donned a mirror-work kurta and white trousers by Kunal Rawal, for the evening.
After-Party
After all the choreographed acts for the evening concluded, everyone came together and took over the dance floor which led to a crazy after-party. Everyone was seen in high spirits as they grooved to upbeat songs throughout the night.
Chooda (Bangle) Ceremony
After a crazy night of music and dance, came the intimate heartwarming ‘chooda’ (bangles) ceremony. Niharika’s close family members and bridesmaids kept her smiling whenever she got emotional. The bride was beaming she put on her ‘kaleerein’ (dangling ornaments on bangles) and rustled them over the heads of her bridesmaids trying to guess who was next in line to wed.
Baraat
Astride his white horse, Trishy arrived dressed in a pastel peach kurta, a floral jacket and white trousers along with a peach turban. He dismounted to join the baraat and danced to his heart’s content before reaching the mandap.
Varmala Ceremony
Niharika made a striking entrance as she walked under a floral canopy held over her head by her brothers, along with her bridesmaids trailing right behind. As she met Trishy for the Varmala Ceremony, he couldn’t help but kiss Niharika on her cheek as everyone cheered them on.
Pheras
The bride made her bridal entry into the purple and white canopy in an ornate multi-colored outfit from Elan, Pakistan with ‘Afreen’ playing in the background. She took the seat next to her husband at the elegant mandap decorated with white and pink flowers and foliage. The beach view chosen by the couple for the pheras looked stunning. From happy giggles to winks, the couple’s quirks added to the auspicious ceremony making it unique to them and creating memories that would last a lifetime.
Reception
The reception that followed the pheras saw the groom wearing a chequered suit, while the bride dazzled in pale green embellished gown with a pearl belt and a trail designed by Natasha Dalal. They marked the beginning of the ceremony by sharing a kiss after cutting a two-tiered cake. What ensued was an evening of wedding toasts and speeches by the couple’s loved ones which also led to a few laughs.
After-Party
An after-party is always a great idea and it was certainly so for Niharika and Trishy. They modified their outfits slightly for the evening with the groom discarding his suit jacket and the bride taking off the trail attached to her gown and replacing her heels with flip-flops. Getting as comfortable as possible, the couple enjoyed every moment of the evening with lots of funny and adorable moments of the newlyweds captured for eternity.
