Niralee and Rohan, Ahmedabad
This couple eschewed grandeur and showcased their affinity for nature with a yellow and white hued wedding mandap adorned by blooms and sheltered by a tree.
Niralee and Rohan first encountered each other in school, and it didn’t take long for these two kindred souls to recognize the chemistry they shared. Over the years, their love blossomed and stayed strong even through thousands of miles between them. Reflecting their quiet and shy personalities, their wedding was the epitome of elegance with its proximity to nature. Planned by WeddingSutra Favorite – Shana Namrata Events who made sure everything went seamlessly with their incredible planning skills, the wedding was a feast for the eyes.
How They Met
Niralee shares, “Rohan and I first met in school through common friends. Since we shared the same group of friends, it allowed us to hang out together often. As time flew by, we realized the affection we shared and since we’re both introverted personalities, no fancy proposal was required.”
Wedding Venue
“Once we started scouting for our wedding venue, there were a few conditions on our end. The first and most important one was that it should be within the city or a short drive away from the city since many people would be attending at the end of a long workday. Secondly, we wanted the venue to be open-air since Ahmedabad has beautiful weather in late January.
Red Earth Premium Lawn ticked every single box. Moreover, it has this beautiful tree that we could place our mandap under. Usually, people choose to build artificial mandaps but once we had set our eyes on that tree, our creative planners pitched the idea of a natural mandap beneath it, and we were sold on that idea!”, shares Niralee.
Wedding Planning
Knowing the importance of having reliable planners at hand who could make the process of executing a wedding easier, the duo chose Shana Namrata Events who impressed them at each step. The bride shares, “Our engagement and wedding were on short notice and for our engagement too, Shana and Namrata Events had been by our side. From the first meeting itself, we shared a great rapport, and naturally, when it came to my wedding, I chose them once again.
Throughout the hectic planning process, they gave us some incredible suggestions and ensured that everything was tailored to our preferences. Working with them was an absolute breeze as they were incredibly proactive and almost instantly came up with a list of possible venues and caterers the very next day of when we informed them about the wedding. For them, the short notice was no challenge at all, and they even went beyond their scope of work by helping us out with other logistics as well. With them, I was never apprehensive about sharing an idea because I knew that they would consider it and somehow incorporate the same within the wedding. I would happily work with them again and also recommend them to others for their sheer commitment, warmth, and hard work.”
Adding to the team was Isha Shukla photography, who captured each moment of the nuptials in well-composed frames.
Wedding Functions
Mandap Mahurat
“The mandap mahurat was a home-based function for which the decor was kept simple and homely with beautiful fresh flowers. Since I wanted one of my functions in my backyard, Shana Namrata Events transformed our patio into a stunning floral gazebo where the entire ceremony took place. With a backdrop of fresh white mogras, the place under the gazebo was dreamy as the scent of the flowers encapsulated our senses. Another gazebo with orange and pink drapes was crafted for the guests who could sit and witness the entire ceremony comfortably.”, shares Niralee.
Mehndi and Sangeet
“Following an ‘Ahmedabad’ theme, the mehndi and sangeet reflected the city’s dual sides. Under an Arabian Nights themed tree was a photo booth while across it was a replica of the walled city with small vendors sitting in their stalls filled with bangles, dupattas, and mojdis. In this area, the guests could also get henna patterned on their hands as they sat cozily on the low, traditional seats. Since I am an ardent Disney fan, the entire mehndi side of the venue was peppered with bright colors and Moroccan lamps.
However, the other side of the venue was swamped in vibrant hues, which is where the sangeet took place. The guests could easily transition from the mehndi towards the sangeet and the food. Thus, we were able to host two different events in one venue itself. For the spread, we collaborated with a variety of local food vendors to give our guests, who were flying in from all across the globe, a taste of the local delicacies.”, shares Niralee.
Wedding
“The venue has a beautiful tree which all of us including Shana and Namrata thought would be a fantastic place to construct a mandap. We loved the natural aura of the entire place and needed minimum convincing on the idea. The shade from the tree kept the breeze flowing throughout the wedding and I wasn’t for a moment worried about my hair or makeup! For the color palette, we chose earthy shades that reflected our love for nature. Keeping this in mind, the entire mandap was decorated in yellow and white blooms. Also, expressing my love for diyas, the entrance aisle was adorned with floating diyas that had the guests in awe.”, shares the happy bride.
