Palak and Udit, Jaipur, Rajasthan
This NRI couple planned their wedding in Jaipur from 8000 miles away that surprised their family and friends.
Introduced by their common friends, Palak and Udit felt an instant connection from the first meeting itself. A fateful Halloween night paired with musings on life and the future brought them closer and kick-started their love story. Even though the duo is based overseas, they’ve always yearned for a traditional Indian wedding, and surpassing their expectations was Weddingsutra Favorite – Desert Pearl Entertainment who with their colorful decor and seamless planning, created rich memories that will last a lifetime for this duo. Behind the camera, was another WeddingSutra Favorite – Gautam Khullar Photography whose candid clicks captured the passion and love that Palak and Udit shared.
How They Met
Palak shares, “ Udit and I met through our common friends in the United States and we felt an instant connection. On Halloween night of 2015, we both were chilling at a bar and wondering about our lives and future plans. It was then that we felt a certain closeness with each other and decided to give each other a chance.”
The Proposal
“After dating for a few months, Udit surprised me with a trip to Atlantic City, New Jersey on my birthday. After we had dinner at an Italian restaurant, there was a Hummer Limousine waiting to take us to our next spot. He blindfolded me in the car and once he took that off, we were on the beach. I realized that this was no ordinary birthday celebration! There was a beautiful cabana set up with candles, flowers, and champagne where he went down on one knee and popped the question. It was by far the best night of my life!”, gushed Palak.
Wedding Venue
When quizzed on her choice of venue, Palak shared, “We both love our culture and always wanted to have a destination wedding with a royal vibe that celebrated our love. An intimate affair with those closest to us was also one of our top priorities. That is how we decided to go with Jaipur, Rajasthan as our destination. Hotel Fairmont was perfect as it exuded an old-world charm and elegance which fit well with the vision we had in mind. For our haldi and cocktail we zeroed in on Hilton Jaipur.”
Wedding Planning
Organizing a wedding for an overseas-based couple can be quite a challenge. But with a reliable and efficient team, Palak and Udit’s nuptials went ahead without a hitch.
The bride shares, “Every function was on point, from the beautiful table settings and florals. Desert Pearl Entertainment understood our brief perfectly which was simple and elegant. Everyone who attended was blown away. There are no words to describe how wonderful Niyati and Antariksh are. They were always so helpful, quick to respond, and would even help calm me down when I would get stressed out. Their genuine and caring nature was extremely helpful. Our vision came true with them. Both my husband and I planned everything from 8000 miles away and it was all a surprise for our families and friends as well. We knew exactly what we wanted and planned all the events together to reflect our personalities. There is a bit of magic when we think of what it took to bring us to this moment. Call it fate, sheer luck, the keystrokes of a computer, or just something divine.”
She goes on about the other aspects of the wedding, “I think we made the best decision by choosing Gautam Khullar Photography. They have an amazing team who made us feel very comfortable. All our moments were beautifully captured, the big ones as well as the small, and of course, the emotional ones. Arneeb Malik on the makeup did a wonderful job and made me look my best for the cocktail function. ‘Doll You up By S’ did my wedding makeup. She is a talented artist whose creativity, warmth and dedication are incomparable.”
Weddings Functions
Cocktail
With the theme being ‘lights and glam’, the cocktail party was a glitzy affair which saw all the guest turn up in their best finery. Elements like sparkling crystal chandeliers, ornate sofas and floral decorations added an elegant yet glamorous charm to the entire venue.
Reflecting every light in her white and silver-studded gown, Palak’s outfit was a showstopper as she twirled around on the stage with her family. Udit chose a dark blue bandhgala in a contemporary cut that he accessorized with a gold chain.
Haldi
The Haldi ceremony which was held by the poolside, had a bright and colorful theme. Shielding the soon-to-be-wed from the sun, was a pair of cabanas, underneath which they sat comfortably while their families doused them with haldi. Peppered with bright orange marigolds and drapes, it was a traditional affair that exuded youthfulness.
Both, Palak and Udit decided to go with yellow and white hues for their outfits. While Palak wore a soft yellow salwar kameez with floral jewellery, while Udit sported a quirky elephant print white bandhgala as they made merry with their friends.
Wedding
Staying true to their vision of a royal destination wedding, the duo chose a ‘red and royal’ theme for the wedding. Festooned with lanterns, chandeliers and blooms, the whole venue was lit up in a soft golden glow as Palak and Udit took their vows amongst their loved ones.
For her lehenga, the bride chose a traditional red number with golden embroidery all over, which she accessorized with a statement kundan and pearl necklace. Udit complemented her in a minimalistic white sherwani with soft golden ‘butti’ work all over. Adding a pop of color to his outfit was a multi-layered necklace of red gemstones.
