Prerana and Jatin, Hotel Sahara Star, Mumbai
This bride wore a gorgeous self-designed lehenga that took over 500 hours to complete!
There were other beautiful touches as childhood sweethearts Jatin and Prerana tied the knot in a charming ceremony that was designed and executed by WeddingSutra Favourite – DreamzKrraft. Here, Prerana shares some interesting highlights of the celebrations.
How They Met
“The first time Jatin and I met was about 15 years ago, in our classroom, wearing school uniforms. While he was the mischief-maker of the batch, I was the nerd obsessed with my books! At the time no one would have ever imagined that the two of us would ever have anything in common, yet today we share a bond so beautiful, that it’s worth fighting for!”
Proposal
“If there is one thing Jatin does best, it is customizing special moments for us. So, when it was time to pop the question, he planned this beautiful proposal at the private deck of the hotel at Taj Lands End, Mumbai. Since we had known each other for half our lives, it would be safe to say that I had a fairly good insight into his brain by now, so I was prepared for something extraordinary. However, when I entered The Chambers Terrace, my eyes welled up. He was right there on one knee, and wedding photographer Natasha of The Storyteller was ready to freeze those moments for us.”
Wedding Venue
“Our mehendi took place at Stax at Hyatt Regency Mumbai, while the cocktail party and the wedding were hosted at Hotel Sahara Star. The atrium of the hotel looks gorgeous and the ballrooms are spacious enough to accommodate large crowds. Jatin, I, and our close family members shifted base to this property, and that gave us the feeling of having a destination wedding despite being in the city!”
Wedding Planning
“Our wedding decor was done by DreamzKrraft, and they did an outstanding job of creating the most stunning decor setups for us. We were especially impressed by the way our mandap tuned out. It looked spectacular and was everything that we had dreamed of. My floral jewellery was bought from Floral Art by Srishti and I loved the way she blended bright colors into the delicate design.”
Wedding Functions
Mehendi
“Our wedding was a double celebration with two brides and two grooms! We shared our mehendi and cocktail party with my brother and his wife. This function was a fun, daytime affair that marked the beginning of the festivities and we couldn’t have been happier with the venue we chose. The space is divided into two levels, and the double-story bar is walled by a colossal glass panel overlooking the outdoor garden. At the event, we invited an expert tabla artist – Nikhil of The Tabla Guy – to play his Indian beats along with the DJ’s Western tunes.”
Wedding
“The setup for our pheras entailed lots of flowers and lush foliage. Our mandap was enveloped in roses, and on either side, we saw a panel of a chequered pattern in red and green. Vines and white blooms were suspended from the roof of the canopy and added an ethereal appeal to the decor. I always had a clear idea of what I wanted my wedding lehenga to look like, and being a designer, I decided to create my own outfit. It took more than 500 hours to complete only the embroidery on the fabric! I worked with a team of artists from Kolkata and added special touches to the ensemble by including our initials on my dupatta. A strong geometric element was added on the skirt and I highlighted it with intricate zardozi flowers.”
Cocktail Party
“Stepping away from the traditional line-up of events, we decided to host our cocktail party after the wedding and this turned out to be a great idea. It was the best way to end the three-day affair on a high note. DreamzKrraft lit up the venue with fresh blooms and a canopy of fairy lights. The evening was packed with energy and DJ Aman Nagpal set the mood for the night along with his troop of saxophonists, LED dhol, and lots more. We also had a few dance performances which were choreographed by Kiran J and his team. They worked very patiently with us and we totally recommend them to all the dancers with two left feet!”
