Prernaa Lohiya and Rohan Hande, Oleander Farm, Karjat
With locally sourced decor, sustainable wedding favors, and rituals that reflected equality, this wedding was inspiring in more ways than one!
Founder of the fashion brand Something Sustainable, Prernaa Lohiya tied the knot with Mixed Media Artist Rohan Hande in a wedding that not only celebrated their love but also their personal beliefs. Embodying the spirit of their name, WeddingSutra Favorite – Tailormade Experiences crafted their bespoke festivities to perfection.
Wedding Planning
The couple wanted their wedding to be about them, one that was minimalistic, intimate, and all about celebrating their love. Team Tailormade Experiences planned, designed, and orchestrated every last detail of their celebrations. Founders Shashank Gupta and Zashank Bhatia share, “For room hampers, we used fabric tote bags and thoughtful ingredients to make the hampers plastic-free. While all the wedding invites and collateral were designed by the groom himself, we curated pocket squares, scrunchies, and jewellery, designed by the bride’s company Something Sustainable, from scraps of fabric to minimize wastage. Special chocolate covers were designed using the couple’s logo and invite theme as thank you gifts for the guests.”
Wedding Functions
Mayra
After kicking off the festivities with an intimate Mehndi with just friends and family, the next day commenced with the bride’s Mayra function. From baskets overflowing with blooms to floral hangings and a stunning checkered backdrop, marigolds took over the space with their brilliance and lit up the natural greenery of the space. Dressed in serene tones of blue, the couple stood out!
Wedding
Nestled in the beauty of nature, the garden wedding exuded modern elegance. Spring blooms in soft pastel hues decked the aisle, seating arrangement, and the mandap, while the canopy of lounge lights that hung overhead converged onto the massive tree that towered over the mandap. A cascade of tuberose hangings and fairy lights cast a magical ambiance as the couple took their vows.
Prernaa and Rohan wanted their nuptials to reflect their love for each other and the fact both of them are equal partners in their relationship. Skipping a traditional baraat, they chose to enter together, hand-in-hand. They also decided to forgo the ritual of Kanyadaan.
Reception
The festivities came to a glamorous conclusion with a bling Reception soiree brimming with disco lights. The couple embodied edgy-chic with all-black ensembles as they cut the cake, shared their first dance, and spent the night celebrating with their friends and family.
