Prethee and Ram, Puducherry

Doctor couple Ram Gautham and Prethee Martina’s wedding in Puducherry was a testament to their thoughtful nature and artistic inclinations. Brought to life with love and intent by WeddingSutra Favorite – The A-Cube Project, the multicultural celebration was intimate, yet undeniably spectacular. The breathtaking details of the festivities were captured in flawless shots by WeddingSutra Favorite – Ombre by Harsheen Jammu.

Wedding Planning
Ram and Prethee’s wedding was not only exceptionally beautiful, it also championed exemplary initiatives such as eco-friendly wedding practices and recognizing women-driven businesses. Every aspect of these memorable festivities was designed, decorated, styled, planned and managed by Ambika Gupta of The A-Cube Project.

Talking about what went into planning this wedding, she shares, “The couple harbored a strong passion for great artists, and this served as our inspiration for designing all of their celebrations. Hosted across various quaint properties in the beautiful town of Puducherry, each function was inspired by iconic masterpieces of different artists, orchestrated with very creative and intricately thought out décor. Although the functions were intimate, there was grandness about them. However, remarkable themes and beautiful décor wasn’t all that our couple wanted for their functions. As doctors and individuals, they also nurtured a strong desire to give back to the community from day one. Thus we got India Wasted & Robin Hood Army onboard to manage the floral & food waste from the wedding that ensured we had minimal wastage and everything was channeled to the right resources.”

Beautiful moments should not slip us by, so to freeze every second of their special celebrations in flawless frames, the couple entrusted the talented team of Ombre by Harsheen Jammu. Adding to the remarkable collective of women entrepreneurs making up this wedding team were makeup artist Bianca Louzado, gifting labels Purkal Stree Shakti and The Earthy Studio.

Wedding Functions
Welcome brunch
Driven by the bride’s love of Van Gogh’s Sunflower paintings, the intimate soiree at Gratitude Heritage was themed around a base palette of sunny yellow, with pops of lavender and white. A gallery of Van Gogh’s artwork with printed descriptions welcomed guests to the courtyard venue that was decked with flowers, blending with the canopy of tropical greens to create a warm, cozy ambience. Earthy sofas, wooden swings and more peppered the décor while elements of straw added a lovely barnyard feeling to the day while complementing the profusion of flowers.

Installations of metal swirls decked with giant sunflowers embodied the signature brush-strokes Van Gogh was famous for. Moreover, a drawing outlining a Van Gogh painting complete with acrylic paints and brushes was set up as a fun activity corner for the guests. The function also included a wedding favor station with charming personalized favors conceptualized and designed by the creative bride herself that was flanked by a sign that said ‘Painted with love just for you’. Miniature canvases hand made by the The Earthy Studio were gifted to the guests, along with jute bags by Purkal Stree Shakti that depicted Van Gogh’s starry night painting.

This unique tribute to the Dutch artist was met with so much adoration that it got International acclaim and was even recognized by the Van Gogh Museum.

Engagement
A lush installation of flowers at the entrance of Villa Shanti ushered guests into the Engagement festivities through a tunnel of flowers, with cane baskets hanging above which were full of lavender blooms. Inspired by Claude Monet’s painting of the ‘Gardens of Giverny’, the cozy space was filled with a profusion of pink blooms and greenery. A sea-green bridge formed the backdrop to the engagement ceremony, decked with the vivid fuchsia magic of blooming bougainvillea. Twinkling lights lit up the floral canopy above the guests as the evening wore on. Pouches of flowers on every seat added a sweet touch to the revelries, for people to shower petals on the couple. A lively mocktail bar added to the vibrant feel of the evening with fruit and floral cocktails.

Wedding
Held at Our Lady of Angels church, the white wedding embodied the Van Gogh’s ‘Almond Blossoms’ painting, orchestrated with a demure palette of ivory, cream and pastel blue. Honoring the sanctity of the church, the décor inside was kept minimal with delicate blooms and roses along with baby’s breath. Printed & personalized hand fans were placed on the pews for the guests, who were also given event booklets and hymns for the ceremony. Paper doily flower cones were handed out as well to shower the couple with petals and love. At the end of the white carpeted aisle, the wooden chairs for the couple were festooned with baby’s breath and Mr. and Mrs. Signage for an adorable personal touch.

Reception
Edith Piaf’s ‘La vie en rose’ inspired Reception festivities invoked not just the romance and allure of the iconic tune but also the memory of Ram’s proposal to Prethee to the same song. Reflecting the soulful lyrics of the song, the entire evening was given a rosy ambience with plush couches, drapes, fairylights and a green twinkling canopy. Rose motifs were incorporated throughout, with the highlight being the gilded installation behind the stage. Personalized photo frames with wedding pictures of Ram and Prethee’s respective parents added an emotional touch to each table. A glamorous bar with customized mocktails and cocktails kept the spirits high, while the groom popped a bottle of champagne and topped off the stunning champagne tower. A lovely black and white cake was cut right before the couple kicked off the performances with their first dance to the band When Chai met Toast’s original track ‘Believe’.
