Priyanka and Mishaal, Udaipur
Surrounded by the beauty of Rajasthani architecture, vivid blooms and pristine waters, this couple’s wedding was a sure treat for the eyes.
Hosted under the gleaming Rajasthani sun and celebrated by their loved ones, Priyanka and Mishaal’s nuptials looked straight out of a desi fairytale. Simple yet grand, their wedding was photographed by WeddingSutra Favorite – WeddingNama who used their unbridled creativity behind the lens to capture every emotion in stunning frames.
How They Met
Priyanka shares, “We met during our first year of University when a mutual friend introduced us at a party. And over the course of the next few months, we crossed paths a couple of times, and Mishaal finally asked me out!”
The Proposal
“We had been dating for nearly eight years before Mishaal popped the question to me while we were enjoying a vacation in Positano by the Amalfi Coast of Italy. Unfortunately, his plan couldn’t come to fruition since there was a disturbance in the weather. Luckily, he was able to pull a few strings at the beautiful Le Sirenuse hotel and make a private booking at their Champagne Bar that night without me knowing a thing! I must admit, when he popped the question, I was absolutely taken aback and stunned by the amount of thought he’d put into it!” recalls Priyanka.
Wedding Planning
Having always envisioned a simple yet traditional wedding, the duo made sure to rope in some of the most popular names in the industry to create their dream team. On the photography front, they chose WeddingNama who impressed them with their superior skills. Priyanka shares, Working with team WeddingNama was a rewarding experience, and we had such a blast together. After looking at the final results, we are in awe of their work and so are all our friends! They edited our pictures through the lockdown and did not let their challenges affect the final result. Their easy-going nature kept us at great ease during the wedding, and we believe that hiring them was one of the best decisions we made.”

Weddings Functions
Welcome Cocktail Party
In order to give their guests a hearty welcome the duo organized a welcome cocktail party where their guests could freely mingle with each other and break the ice.
Haldi
A simple and traditional ceremony hosted by the lakeside lawn under the azure blue side, the Haldi was swathed in hues of yellow and white with extremely minimalistic decor. As all the relatives playfully slathered Haldi all over the bride and groom, the event was filled with cheer and friendly banter.
Sangeet
Priyanka shares, “Mishaal, in particular, was very much looking forward to the Sangeet function. And it was nice to take the backseat for a change as I’m not a great dancer whereas Mishaal is! In fact, he performed a solo number during the function that left everyone spellbound and asking for more.”
Wedding
Explaining the thought process they shared while planning the big day, Priyanka shares, “Neither Mishaal nor I consider ourselves very traditional, so for us the traditional wedding was a very wholesome experience where we got to revisit our Indian roots. Additionally, it was heartwarming to see our friends from different backgrounds come together to celebrate our Indian wedding.
For the wedding ceremony, I’d always had my heart set on a garden wedding, however, there were a few concerns keeping the harsh weather in mind. Luckily, we were able to come around it with the unique decor design and were able to pull off a magical event.”
Reception
Stepping up the glamor stakes, the reception night was replete with LED lighting, sparklers, and lush foliage that set everyone in the mood to party. The newlyweds took this opportunity to enjoy their first dance as a married couple as their loved ones watched under a canopy of twinkling fairy lights. Later on, a western sit-down dinner ensued where everyone raised a toast to wish the couple.
Advice For Couples
The couple advises, “Select reliable vendors whom you can trust and who can understand your vision with clarity. And, if you’ve got a destination wedding on the cards then make sure you have an excellent planner on your team. Stress cannot be avoided but always make sure that you relieve yourself of all the planning duties once the festivities commence and just enjoy the experience.”
