With the tranquil backwaters serving as the backdrop, this couple’s minimalistic wedding at Taj Malabar Resort & Spa was a real treat for the senses.
Reshmy Nambiar, a techie, and Ankit Gauba, a Human Resources professional, first crossed paths at a wedding, and with their friend playing cupid, these two individuals formed a bond that lasted even through the most uncertain of times. Hosted at the plush and spacious Taj Malabar Resort & Spa that overlooks the serene backwaters of Cochin, their wedding exuded elegance with its artful simplicity.
How They Met
Reshmy, a hardcore techie and a nature enthusiast first crossed paths with Ankit, an HR professional and a footballer at their common friend’s wedding. After many efforts from their friend who aptly played the part of cupid, these two individuals asked each other out. There’s been no looking back for the duo since! After surviving the lockdown and flourishing in love at Reshmy’s erstwhile bachelorette pad, a formal proposal was just not required for this couple as they had already made their decision!
Wedding Venue
Owing to Reshmy’s pleasant childhood memories in Cochin where she loved looking upon the magnificent backwaters, the couple started scouting for venues in the scenic city. After multiple searches, they had almost given up hope when they came across the Taj Malabar Resort & Spa which awed them from the first glimpse itself. Lined by the serene backwaters, encircled by lush greenery, and boasting of spacious venues where the duo could freely celebrate, this luxurious venue fit the bill perfectly. Reshmy shares, “Keeping the pandemic in mind, all safety precautions were thoroughly followed by the staff at Taj Malabar Resort & Spa. The hospitality we received was truly amazing and it actually felt more like a vacation than a wedding!”
Weddings Functions
Haldi
Decorated with vibrant orange-hued marigold garlands, the couple’s Haldi function brimmed with fun as their loved ones playfully smeared them with turmeric. As requested by the bride and groom the ladies donned a traditional kasavu saree while the men sported a mundu. Flanked by friends who wore matching t-shirts that proclaimed which side they came from, this event had everyone in a cheerful mood.
Cocktail
Stepping up the glamor quotient, the cocktail night was hosted under a dark, star-studded sky where the duo danced to their favorite tracks along with their loved ones. Peppered with golden fairy lights that twinkled merrily and swayed in the wind, it was an enchanting affair that was followed by a lip-smacking feast where everyone reached for second helpings. However, the highlight of the evening was a montage of surprise video wishes by friends who couldn’t make it to the wedding that was played on a big screen especially for the couple.
Wedding
Swathed in hues of pale rose and white, Reshmy and Ankit’s wedding looked straight out of a fairytale with its minimalistic decor that was accentuated by the gentle beauty of the backwaters. As the duo tied the knot under a simple wooden beamed mandap, they looked picture-perfect as they exchanged playful glances at each other. Dressed in traditional Punjabi wedding wear, the wedding was also punctuated by a quick drizzle that made the occasion even more special!
Reception
Ending the celebrations on a high note, the reception was hosted at the venue’s spacious grounds where everyone regardless of their age freely shook a leg. Entertained by the musical performances, funny toasts, and spontaneous wedding games, the guests celebrated till the wee hours of the night!

The bride shares, “Don’t hesitate to ask your friends for help. Round up your best men and bridesmaids to run the show for you. Make sure you have the closest of your circle by your side, which in turn, will ensure that your big day naturally feels like fun!”
