Richa and Kushal, Radisson Blu Udaipur Palace Resort & Spa
With a wedding at a beautiful property in Udaipur, Richa and Kushal ensured that the revelries matched the grandeur of the venue.
When they first met at work, Richa and Kushal had no idea one day they’d be married. Years later, they exchanged vows at the Radisson Blu Udaipur Palace Resort & Spa.
WeddingSutra Favorite The Doli Diary designed and executed the memorable affair, while the couple’s candid moments were captured by WeddingSutra Favorite Seventy by Two.
How we met
In 2013, Richa and Kushal worked at the same company but in different departments. At a foosball tournament was when they first interacted and later began hanging out, even post work. A year later, they went their separate ways professionally but stayed in touch on BBM.
In January 2014 Kushal randomly called Richa and they rekindled their friendship, meeting now and then. But while Kushal had always felt inclined toward Richa, he had to single handedly persist at convincing her to give the relationship a try for three whole months before she agreed to date in July.
Wedding Planning
It was helpful that Jinal of The Doli Diary is a family friend of Kushal’s family. Richa, on a visit to India, met Jinal’s mum and had the chance to see Jinal’s work and that’s when she knew The Doli Diary would be their wedding planners. The company pulled off the perfect wedding with just a month and a half to plan.
Wedding Venue
Kushal’s mum believes that unions by a water body are particularly auspicious and that is why The Doli Diary recommended Udaipur, the city of lakes. With the couple busy working, it was up to their respective parents to finalize the venue keeping in mind that Kushal had always wanted a royal wedding and Richa wanted a gorgeous view. The Radisson Blu ticked all the boxes and the couple was married in a rooftop mandap overlooking the Fatehpur Sagar Lake.
Wedding Functions
Mehndi and Pool Party
The mehndi was hosted during the day with a carnival theme. Rajasthani dancers and Punjabi folk dancers kept the guests entertained. A lac bangle maker was present alongside tarot card readers. The Flaming Trio performed at the bar and mesmerized everyone and a fun pool party was hosted later in the late afternoon right after the mehndi. This Hawaiian themed party witnessed flamingo tubes among some kitschy décor elements.
Sangeet
It was all Bollywood at the sangeet. The red carpet and stage were designed along with the rest of the venue to look like a Bollywood awards night. Customized to the couple’s requirements, the ambience that evening was subtle and elegant with a big dose of glamor.
Haldi and Wedding
For the morning ceremony, a pandit was flown in from Dubai for the bride and groom’s haldi. Post lunch, it was time for the baraat, followed by the wedding. Held at sunset, the beautifully decorated mandap and the serene nuptial rituals were simply the most beautiful of all the events. As evening fell, the couple, surrounded by their closest family and friends, walked into the next chapter of their lives.
Reception
A Starry Night themed reception party as glamorous as you’d expect. Draped in all things glittery, a roomful of beautiful guests, dressed in classic style, it was a celebration nobody will ever forget. At the end of the day, friends or family, Indian or western, everything blended into one composite memory filled with love, happiness and ecstasy for all who attended.
Advice for Couples
The bride says, “Brides relax. Sure, you want to know everything about the wedding but rely on the fact that everything turns out beautiful in the end. Remember to enjoy every experience.”
