Riya and Prateek, Ahmedabad
Abounding with fountains, a lotus pond and a rolling landscape, this unique golf course wedding was as intimate as it was divine.
Riya Dabhi and Prateek Jain celebrated their Jain-Gujarati Hindu wedding with a warm family celebration at a sprawling golf-course venue on the outskirts of Ahmedabad. Witness breathtaking glimpses of their special moments, shot to perfection by WeddingSutra Favorite – Studio146.
How they met
Despite having studied in the same college, it wasn’t until their last year that Riya and Prateek crossed paths at a party. They felt an instant connection that stayed through their journey after college into different jobs and countries. In due course, they realised they wanted to be with each other for life and decided to get married.
Wedding Planning
The couple wanted their wedding to be a wholesome experience where their families could bond and enjoy every moment of their festivities, and they found their perfect venue at the expansive Kensville Golf and Country Club outside Ahmedabad.
“We planned the wedding ourselves, right from choosing the spots for each event to finalizing the décor and look and feel of our chosen theme. We zeroed down the priorities for all the functions with a plan B in case of any challenges. We also had multiple rounds of discussions with the chefs and catering staff at the resort to set the expectations right. We chose the team of Studio146 to capture our special moments, and were absolutely thrilled with the results. Shail is super responsive, flexible and easy to work with, which is critical considering all the delightful chaos of a wedding. The venue was huge, so Shail, along with his team adapted well and quickly identified the perfect photography spots. Two words of advice for anyone reading this that’s looking for a photographer – Hire him! We certainly hope to work with him in the future again”.
Wedding Functions
Engagement/Sangeet
After a few intimate traditional ceremonies, the revelries kicked off with a lush outdoor ring ceremony and Sangeet. Billowing white drapes and fairy lights set a magical ambience, along with a canopy of paper lanterns that created the visual appeal of a sky full of stars. White candles and candelabras highlighted the staircase leading to the stage as well as the walkways, while more candles, lanterns, metallic props and flowers added to the evening. The couple entered the venue in a golf cart, and the evening was packed with stunning performances by the couple, followed by their loved ones. The evening ended with a Garba performance and dinner.
Haldi
Designed with the look and feel of a rustic Kerala style construction, the Ayurveda Spa of the resort housed the Haldi ceremony, giving it the perfect serene, traditional ambience it deserved. The aroma of incense and camphor combined with an abundance of Indian blooms such as marigolds, rajnigandha and champa to set a truly mesmerizing vibe for the ritual. The couple wore customary hues of yellow, as they were doused with turmeric paste, flowers and love by their family and friends.
Wedding
Hosted in the midst of the sprawling golf course, the quaint wedding soiree painted a pretty picture in the setting sun. With the sights of fountains and lotus ponds in the background, the wedding mandap of English roses and orchids looked nothing short of ethereal. Pillar candles, light fixtures on trees around the guest seating area, hanging votive candles, flower rangolis and more, completed this fine occasion. The couple chose coordinated outfits of blush pink and pastel green for their big day. As they exchanged the garlands, a burst of rose petals erupted from flower cannons, surrounding the moment in a cheerful glow.
The highlight of the function was the couple reading out their wedding vows breaking the monotony of convention, drawing a lot of laughs, emotions and joy from the crowd.

Advice for couples
“While planning your wedding, it’s important to work out your budget and stick with it. Also, book your venue well in advance and start coordinating with your guests’ days before your functions to avoid any hiccup at the last moment. Finally, try and delegate as much work to your friends and family.”
