Roshni Mehboobani and Geoffrey Shaw, Ikshana Resort and Spa, Pune

Emotive and exuberant, this hillside fusion wedding unfolded as a seamless blend of joy and glamour, with rain adding to the magic of the celebrations.

Set against the misty hills of Khandala, Roshni Mehboobani and Geoffrey Shaw’s wedding unfolded as an intimate celebration marked by heartfelt moments, spontaneous rain showers, and an unmistakable sense of warmth. Thoughtfully photographed by WeddingSutra Favorite – Knotty Affair by Namit and Vipul, the wedding captured the couple’s easy chemistry and the quiet beauty of each ritual, even amidst unpredictable weather.

The Proposal
Geoff’s love for the mountains has long been a constant, with Roshni happily accompanying him on his gentler hikes. It was during one such walk in the Scottish Highlands, under the pretence of showing her a set of natural stepping stones, that he proposed.
“We were the only two souls on the brae,” Roshni recalls. “The clouds parted, his knee bent, and the tears and laughter erupted. I couldn’t stop giggling all the way back down the mountain.”

Wedding Planning
“Our experience with Knotty Affair by Namit and Vipul was just brilliant,” the couple shares. “They are a team of very calm and kind professionals, which is vital for intimate events like weddings.”
Despite rain, time constraints, and the inevitable chaos of wedding festivities, the photographers exceeded expectations. “They definitely over-delivered! We were surprised by how much they captured in such a short time. The real-time delivery of photos was completely unexpected, and our guests have been amazed by both the quality and the speed.” For Roshni and Geoff, choosing Knotty Affair was, quite simply, “the best decision ever.”

Wedding Functions
Mehendi & Sindhi Lada
Hosted on a terrace overlooking the valley, the Mehendi and Sindhi Lada set the tone with its relaxed yet celebratory spirit. Simple décor allowed the view to shine, while dhol, drinks, and a DJ welcomed guests in vibrant hues. With the dress code calling for pinks and reds, it was heartening to see British guests embracing Indian attire with enthusiasm.
Just as the celebrations peaked, the rain arrived, unrelenting and heavy. “Nobody fled, nobody frowned,” Roshni recalls. “We all just kept on dancing.” The ceremony was paired with a Sindhi ritual of prayers and blessings, grounding the festivities in tradition. Watching Geoffrey’s mother lead the dancing after the prayers became one of the most cherished moments of the evening.

Sangeet
The Sangeet embraced a ‘sparkle and shine’ theme and was moved indoors at the last minute, a decision that proved wise. The atmosphere was electric as friends and family from both cultures took to the stage. “Seeing everyone perform was incredibly special for us,” the couple shares, “bringing two cultures together and celebrating in true Bollywood style.”

Sindhi Saanth
The Saanth ceremony brought laughter and togetherness in equal measure. In this ritual, Geoffrey was doused with oil and turmeric by married women before his clothes were playfully torn away, symbolising his transition into married life. Though traditionally held separately in the bride’s and groom’s homes, the hotel setting allowed both families to celebrate in parallel, filling the rooms with song, joy, and shared emotion.

Wedding
With pastel hues setting the tone, the ceremony was both elegant and atmospheric. “I’ll never forget Roshni’s entrance,” Geoff shares. “She looked like royalty, elegant, refined, and the most beautiful person I’d ever seen.” Midway through the pheras, the rain returned, yet again testing the day. Thanks to the quick thinking of the family, décor, and hotel teams, the sacred fire was protected, and the ceremony continued. “Completing the pheras in the rain felt like a dream,” the couple reflects, grateful for the positivity that carried them through.

Afterparty
The celebrations concluded with a Black & Gold themed afterparty, a moment to finally let loose after months of planning. With stress replaced by pure joy, the newlyweds and their guests danced late into the night, savouring the simple fact that they were finally married.

Advice For Couples
“Be present and truly soak in every moment, because it all passes so quickly. What makes a wedding special are the people who surround you with love and warmth, not just the décor, the venue, or even the food. Delegate to your closest friends and family so you can enjoy every second, and if you’re planning something unconventional, like a camel for the groom’s entry, make sure you organise it well in advance,” share Roshni and Geoffrey.
