Rumana and Kunal, Dubai
This lavish wedding saw the bride make a dramatic entry on a plush modern palanquin!
After dating for eight years, Rumana and Kunal decided to tie the knot. Their love and romance was celebrated through this grand wedding revelry designed, planned and orchestrated by the team of WeddingSutra Favorite – BAQAA Glamour Weddings and Events. A week-long celebration of grace, grandeur and opulence, here is how the wedding ceremonies were executed by the talented team.
Wedding Planning
The glorious wedding celebration was meticulously put together by the team of BAQAA Glamour Weddings and Events. Right from designing and conceptualising to orchestrating the events, the team ensured that no stone was left unturned in delivering a perfect fairytale wedding to Rumana and Kunal. The planning team guaranteed a week-long celebration of lavish grandeur through their exemplary ideation, planning, hospitality and entertainment services.
Wedding Functions
Welcome Dinner
The wedding festivities began with a splendid welcome dinner hosted at Rumana’s mansion which was transformed into a regal movie set and theatre to host 350 guests. The living room was converted into a magical stage with lighting, ground fog and striking audiovisuals. BAQAA’s founder and designer Rachna Chadha conceptualized and choreographed the entire show which was inspired by the royal Darbar performances from movie classics like ‘Mughal E Azam,’ ‘Pakeezah,’ ‘Umrao Jaan,’ and ‘Bajirao Mastani.’ The team’s inhouse music composer and free-style percussionist Ratish Chadha performed at the dinner event which was followed by enchanting performances by the Zenith Group flown in from India. The welcome dinner was a highlight of the week-long celebration, and guests had a grand time till late into the night.
Mehndi
Rumana and Kunal’s mehndi included a melting pot of people from diverse cultures. Considering the varied guest list, BAQAA’s team came up with an equally colorful theme for the mehndi. This ceremony too was hosted at the bride’s residence, and the decor was inspired by a traditional Indian ‘Haat Bazar’ (rural crafts market). Comprising Rajasthani puppets, traditional seating, umbrellas, jharokhas, and a traditional Indian swing for the bride and groom to sit on, the decor was executed in shades of pink, orange, yellow, and neon green.
Sangeet
Rumana and Kunal’s Hollywood-themed sangeet was hosted at the classic ballroom of the Habtoor Palace Dubai. The decor was done up in shades of black, gold and burgundy, and included a royal red carpet on the path that led to the grand ballroom. The venue was resplendent with a starlit stage, royally set tables, lavish linen drapes and candelabra. However, what stole the show were the golden framed centerpieces placed on each table that displayed a poem specially written for Rumana by her father. Her entry in a vintage, burgundy and black palanquin reminded us of a Hollywood classic, The Great Gatsby, taking us back to the ‘Jazz Age’.
Reception
The reception was an epitome of elegance with flowy white drapes, fairy lights, moss chandeliers, floral installations, candles and magnolia trees. The couple’s entry was ethereal with faux snowflakes and a dim-lit aisle which recreated the effect of early dawn. The team of BAQAA transformed the entire wedding into a wonderful visual treat, and hit Bollywood duo Sajid-Wajid’s 25-piece band further livened up the ambiance of the evening with their melodies.
