Rupanshi and Yogin, Goa
This beach wedding in Goa showcased diverse themes at fun-filled events with picture-perfect backdrops.
Rupanshi and Yogin’s journey evolved from strolling in the college corridors to walking down the aisle at their grand beach wedding, meticulously planned by WeddingSutra Favorite – Pataka Events. Their electric chemistry was artfully captured by WeddingSutra Favorite – Dreamcatchers Photography.
How They Met
Reminiscing about old times, Rupanshi says, “We were both pursuing our graduation from Amity University. I had just joined as a fresher and Yogin was a sophomore there. He hosted an event for the freshers’ and I somehow managed to win, which made him notice me. After bumping into each other at several get-togethers, we soon realized we were falling in love. The first stepping stone in our relationship was when Yogin made a move to the US. After six tough years of long-distance, millions of messages, calls and letters, we finally got together in California. To make up for lost time, we went on spontaneous vacations, traveled the world and even got our fur baby, Ella.”
The Proposal
The blushing bride shares, “I was busy making plans for Ella’s first vacation while Yogin had something else in mind. On our trip to Las Vegas, in front of the Bellagio fountains while a magic show was going on, he popped the question in front of the audience. I froze there for a moment and it was only after the crowd started cheering that I came to my senses and shouted a big ‘YES’.”
Wedding Venue
“We decided to skip picking a venue in our respective hometowns and wanted to host a destination wedding instead. Our hearts were set on Goa and we knew exactly how we wanted to celebrate our functions. We wanted a beach wedding and a ballroom reception that allowed us to play music through the night. Holiday Inn Resort Goa fulfilled these criteria. The moment we stepped in, we were blown away by the striking decor and the grand lobby. The amazing view of the beach, the green lawns, the spacious resort and the grand ballroom swept us off our feet,” says the happy bride.
Wedding Planning
“After looking through multiple portfolios, we locked down on Pataka Events. We got on a call with Ayesha and instantly knew that she would understand what we wanted for our day. The level of creativity Ayesha and Joshua have is beyond measure. Once we sent them some examples, they understood our style and built on it. They kept our budget in view whenever they suggested decor ideas. For our wedding photographer, after skimming through multiple trailers and films, Dreamcatchers Photography’s work stood out. They are really good at getting your emotions rolling. Punit and his team are extremely professional and we were impressed with how fast they were with their shoot even though we gave them very little time before each event. Even while editing the videos and pictures, they allowed us to be a part of their process and incorporated our suggestions. The wedding looked beautiful in their shots and showcased memories we can show off to everyone,” shares Rupanshi.
Wedding Functions
Mehndi
The celebrations started in full swing with the first being the garba-themed mehndi function. The decor was vibrant and colorful with blue and pink adornments such as pinwheels, kites and umbrellas. The occasion was filled with fun activities like balloon shooting and dandiya dancing. Street food such as chaat and ice popsicles were laid out for guests to enjoy. The bride looked stunning in a royal blue lehenga by Seasons and the groom looked dashing in a navy blue kurta pyjama set by Manyavar for this function.
Haldi
The morning started early with a small ganesh puja followed by the haldi ceremony on the same lawn, which saw decorations in shades of yellow that included fresh flowers and wooden frames. The guests were seen showing off their quirky dance moves to the beats of the dhol.
Wedding
The wedding ceremony was held on the beachside lawns of the hotel. Azure drapes along with yellow and white flowers perfectly paired with the backdrop of the sea and coconut trees. Sparklers, along with a beautiful sunset that painted the skies orange, served as the picture-perfect frame as the couple exchanged wedding vows. The bride’s younger sister performed the rituals and, soon after the pheras, the couple took off in a vintage car with happy smiles on their faces. The bride dazzled in a soothing champagne and blush pink ensemble for the pheras, while the groom wore a royal blue sherwani by Manyavar.
Reception
The final event was a formal reception held in the hotel’s ballroom, that followed a decor palette of navy blue, white and glittering gold. The evening unfolded with spectacular dance performances, a cake cutting ceremony and an extravagant dinner. The newlyweds made a jaw-dropping entry with the bride wearing a white gown by David’s Bridal and the groom styled a shiny blue suit by Louis Phillipe.
Advice For Couples
“Firstly, remember that it is your big day. Do not let anyone else take control of the wedding-related decisions for you. Secondly, things will obviously go wrong, but the more you plan beforehand, the more control you have over those things. Thirdly, spend some time selecting a good photographer. It takes time and effort to find the best for your buck, but it’s all worth it in the end. Lastly, get a wedding planner. They are going to make your planning process super easy – from taking care of the decorations, props, DJ, lighting, everything!”
