Sam and Eric, Thailand
A traditional Sikh wedding followed by a serene sunset reception on the beach in Hua Hin, Thailand, this couple has set the bar high for destination weddings.
Just like many teenagers, Samrita and Eric’s love story began in their college days. Having made it official after dating for a few years, the cross-cultured couple sealed their love with a beautiful traditional Sikh wedding ceremony in Thailand. The wedding was planned and executed to perfection by WeddingSutra Favorite – Shanaya Celebrations and elegantly captured by the very talented WeddingSutra Favorite – Anoop.Photography.
How They Met
Sam and Eric both attended a Tech Institution. One fine day, they met while crossing each other’s path in college. And instantly, sparks flew between them.
Wedding Venue
The couple wanted to get married somewhere by the beach. But they also wanted to make sure that the location they chose was at a driving distance from Bangkok. They eventually decided to go with the Hua Hin Marriott Resort & Spa, Thailand which was suggested by a mutual friend of the couple. The venue was perfect for them as it was located about three hours’ drive away from Bangkok.
Wedding Planning
The bride’s mother was all praise about the planners and decorators of the wedding. Thoroughly impressed, she said, “It was our pleasure to work with Shanaya Celebrations. The quality they delivered was fantastic. They were very efficient, honest and even the last bottle of alcohol was accounted for. Their suggestions were spot on and the vendors were excellent. They were extremely professional at their jobs. They actually brought our dream vision for the wedding to life. We are so very thankful.”
She was also mesmerized by the decor at her daughter’s wedding. She said, “Nipunika and Kripa from Elan EBN just stole everyone’s heart! They are incredibly talented. The decor that they curated was breathtaking, and something that will be etched in everyone’s memories forever.”
Wedding Functions
Mehndi Lunch
The first day of the wedding celebration started off with the Mehndi function. Family and friends were invited to apply mehndi to their hands. The event was later followed by a lavish lunch on the main lawn of the Marriott.
Jaago
The traditional pre-wedding ritual, Jaago, was held at the venue’s ballroom. It was a chance for friends and family to rejoice and dance together in celebration. The room was lit up in shades of rich magenta. Pink was the order of the day, as both the bride and groom-to-be sported shades of pink in their outfits. The decor looked dazzling with energetic lights which got everyone in the mood to hit the dance floor. The evening was energetic with dhols, singing and lots of dancing. Music and dance were the central theme of this eclectic occasion.
Chuda Haldi
The bride’s family held a Chuda Haldi ceremony, which was an intimate celebration with close relatives and friends. She played it casual, wearing shorts and a tee with a shrug as she got pampered by all at this wonderful event. The smiles here were infectious.
Anand Karaj
The couple had a traditional Sikh wedding (Anand Karaj). The bride and groom looked absolutely stunning on their special day. Sam glowed with glitter eyes and a rosy lip makeover done by WeddingSutra Favorite – Makeovers by Sejal. She wore a gorgeous pastel pink lehenga with pretty embroidered mint-colored flowers delicately set into the outfit from Jaamawar Minx by Rupam Grewal which she paired with shiny gold juttis. The venue had soothing decor with floral prints and pastel colors in the shades of pink.
Reception
Sam and Eric’s reception was exceptionally beautiful. It began with cocktails and food on the beach, against the backdrop of the serene sunset. It was as delightful and scenic as it sounds. But since no reception is ever complete without shaking a leg, there was an after-party in the ballroom at the Marriott later which culminated in a memorable journey for the couple and their guests.
