Samiksha and Kartik’s glitzy Surat wedding was a fusion of traditional rituals and beautiful aesthetics.
From a pastel themed vintage wedding to a glimmering reception party, Samiksha and Kartik’s wedding was full of unique, fairytale touches. Here, Samiksha shares more details about the celebrations that took place in Surat.

How We Met
“Kartik happens to be the brother of one of my best friends. That’s how we first met. Later, we became good friends and eventually fell in love.”

“Our wedding took place at The Gateway Hotel Athwalines Surat by Taj. Growing up in Surat, I had seen a lot of close family functions and beautiful weddings at The Taj, so choosing the venue was more of an emotional rather than a practical decision.”
Wedding Functions
Mehndi, Haldi and Sangeet
“After organizing an intimate haldi and mehndi at home, we went all out for our sangeet function. It was organized at the hotel and the venue was colorfully decorated with LED lights. Apart from surprise dance performances, Kartik and I also shook a leg and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. For the sangeet, I wore a beautiful deep maroon velvet embellished lehenga and accessorized it with minimal jewellery.”
Wedding
“For the wedding, my choice of the bridal attire was based on my family’s love for simple looks and pastel shades. Since it was a daylight wedding with a vintage themed décor comprising flowers, I wore a beautiful Sabyasachi lehenga. The lightweight lehenga had beautiful floral motifs on it which paired well with my gold ‘matta patta’ (forehead band), earrings and a sling ‘nath’ (nosering).”
Reception
‘For the evening reception, we chose a Great Gatsby Theme with a twist. The entire décor was done in gold and black, and was lit with yellow fairy lights. We wanted our reception to be an after party of sorts besides being a ‘meet and greet session.’ Apart from the scrumptious food and unlimited drinks, my shiny golden Shringar anakali gown stole the show. It was fully embellished with golden crystals and was perfect for my impromptu twirl sessions!”
Any tips for to-be-wed couples?
“Make sure you pamper yourself, and delegate as much as possible. Try and be a part of your own wedding planning . The experience is like a rollercoaster ride, but remember to breathe, stay calm and most importantly, cherish all the great memories!”
