Sarthak and Palak, Jaipur
From a dreamy lavender-hued sangeet to a romantic pink wedding, this couple’s wedding in Jaipur was a visual delight.
Palak Rana, a former bank officer, and Sarthak Mahajan, a robotic engineer’s union was a joyful one where they celebrated their destination wedding at a serene resort in Jaipur far from the maddening crowds. Photographing their wedding was WeddingSutra Favorite – Jayesh Photography who was with them every step of the way capturing priceless emotional moments.
How They Met
Palak shares, “Sarthak and I met in 2012 when we were in college and were volunteering for an NGO. After chatting for a bit, we realized that we lived only a short walk away from each other, and soon enough we became good friends who then transitioned into dating! However, after three years together, Sarthak moved to the US for his Master’s degree. As we all know, long-distance relationships can be really hard. But fortunately, we persevered nonetheless.
The Proposal
Recollecting the surprise proposal that he planned for her, Palak shares, “We were in the sixth year of our relationship, and Sarthak was visiting India for a short trip which was a complete surprise for me. In fact, he had even spoken to our respective families and planned the proposal without my knowledge! He orchestrated a beautiful setup with our pictures, lights and a ‘Will you marry me, Palak?’ placard. Of course, my answer had to be yes!”
Wedding Planning
Palak shares, “A year after the proposal we successfully tied the knot amidst the COVID-19 chaos. Luckily everything turned out to be just perfect!” When it came to roping in a photographer for their wedding squad, the couple were quite choosy and finally zeroed in on Jayesh Photography. Palak says, “The Wedding is the day where a lot of memories are created, and for capturing all of them we needed the right photographer. Having spoken to over a dozen photographers, we found Jayesh to be very soft-spoken, cooperative and highly talented! A challenge with candid photography is to perfectly capture the chemistry between a couple which is fairly tricky, and we’re glad that Jayesh and his team were successful in doing so. Additionally, they have amazing equipment and a very talented rest of the team (including traditional photographers and videographers). I would 100% recommend them to anyone looking for a wedding photographer. Also, since we would be spending a lot of time with the photographer it was really important to us that our frequencies matched. We felt that Jayesh and his team were very patient and understanding. This was by far the most important factor that we were looking for in our photographer.”
Notably, the couple also designed their own wedding. The bride shares, “We wanted to plan our wedding ourselves so we didn’t hire a wedding planner. We managed to do all the research, calls, planning and execution from different continents. From the venue to the photographer, and makeup artist to the mehndi artist, we booked everything on our own. It was a challenging task, but well worth it.”
Weddings Functions
Haldi
Palak shares, “We went for a yellow and hot-pink color palette so that we could get the best of both worlds, that is, traditional and quirky. For the outfit, I chose a Rajasthani style blouse while Sarthak opted for a bandhgala that was just as colorful. It was a sunkissed ceremony and everyone had loads of fun rambling in the sun!”
Cocktail and Sangeet
In tandem with the indo-western theme, the couple decided to opt for a lavender and white color palette. Palak shares, “The event was hosted under the starry night sky and we carefully selected a backdrop of colorful flowers to accentuate our clothes. To make sure this happened, we worked closely with our decorator to ensure that everything matched our theme.”
Wedding
Palak recollects, “ For the Wedding I was keen on a pastel theme and chose colors like, pink and white, keeping the same in mind. However, we did add a dash of glamour to the mandap with a crystal chandelier! Overall, the wedding turned out to be exactly as I had imagined it. For Sarthtak’s sherwani, we chose a sober cream hue while his scarf matched my powder pink lehenga perfectly.”
Advice For Couples
Palak shares, “Start early and book vendors after due research. Make sure you are organized and on the same page. For us, the WeddingSutra app was incredibly helpful and made the process so easy for us. Last but not the least, enjoy your day! Don’t stress over things that are out of your control and just remember to spend happy moments with your family.”
