Saumya Chopra and Kanisth Raghani tied the knot in an intimate beachfront celebration in Goa to commemorate their journey of love with their closest family and friends in tow. WeddingSutra Favorite – Sunny Dhiman Photography captured every moment in vivid beauty.

How they met
The couple first crossed paths while studying at the same University in Boston, and in a true movie-like fashion, they disliked each other in the beginning! It was a few months later that they found themselves alone on campus as none of their friends had returned from their summer break as yet. A decision to go on a quick drive together, turned into a three-hour long one as they talked non-stop, and the rest is history!

Wedding Venue
The bride shares, “I grew up in the Bahamas and had always dreamed of having my wedding on a beach there. The Pandemic made it impossible to travel back and we tied the knot in India in order to celebrate with our families. ITC Grand Goa was the perfect beach wedding destination for us as the venue was ideal and their staff paid extra attention to all our needs and that of our guests, making the experience better than one could have ever imagined. Every COVID protocol was followed to make the celebrations safe, and the beautiful beachfront property made for the perfect backdrop for all our festivities.”

Wedding Planning
The intimate wedding of fewer than 50 people was hosted with great fervor, planned and executed by Purple Tree Event Solutions. Every second of their special moments were captured by the talented team of Sunny Dhiman Photography. Looking back upon their experience working with them, the bride shares, “I had seen a video of a wedding they had done on a beach and instantly knew that this was the team that I wanted to cover ours. They are extremely experienced, hands-on and talented, not to mention fun! They made us feel extremely comfortable and were very patient, especially during our early morning couple shoot the day after the wedding. They were in complete sync with us, and delivered exquisite quality photos and memories for us to cherish for a lifetime”.

Wedding Functions

Shagan
The festivities kicked off with a traditional Shagan ceremony for the couple. Hosted indoors, the intimate ceremony saw pretty decor of white and gold accented with floral arrangements, music, dancing and merriment. The bride exuded Nizaami splendor in a fuchsia and gold anarkali suit accessorized with a Passa and Polki jewellery while the groom wore a classy cream Jodhpuri suit.

Mehndi
An extravaganza of color and quirky decor ruled the sunny Mehndi function hosted in the lush lawn space of the property. Eclectic elements like bohemian teepees, tassels, teapots and fans, wooden crates, flowers, brightly colored signs and carts of bangles greatly added to the electrifying vibe. The bride looked radiant in a lime-green lehenga, perfectly complementing the groom’s baby pink Bandi jacket and kurta set.

Sangeet
The Sangeet function was an elegant, glamorous affair with stunning light effects, photo op corners and a canopy of silver tinsel with an abundance of white flowers. The couple and their families looked resplendent in a dress code of silver and black for the evening that saw stellar performances, the ring exchange and more.

Wedding
The tranquil beachfront wedding was a pastel-hued dream playing out against the shimmering blue waters. Shades of peach, pink and white covered the area leading to the mandap with a swaying canopy of flowers that hung above the couple as they tied the knot. Wearing shades matching the decor, the couple and their families painted a pretty picture.

Reception
The festivities came to a stunning end with a stylish Reception party replete with dancing, champagne toasts, speeches and cake-cutting. Thick tropical foliage, shimmering disco balls and decadent jewel tones set an exotic jungle vibe for the evening. The groom wore a stunning suit while the bride dazzled in a sleek silver couture gown.

Advice for couples
“For any bride, especially a pandemic bride, I’d advise to stay calm and not lose track of the excitement. There will be challenging days, but do not give up hope, because it will all turn out just fine in the end! Most importantly, don’t forget to enjoy yourself!”
