Seerat and Dhruv, Mohali

Celebrating nearly a decade of love, this home garden wedding ceremony was steeped in nostalgia and natural beauty.

After nearly a decade together across continents, Seerat and Dhruv returned home to celebrate their love with a wedding that was as heartfelt as it was beautifully curated. Thoughtfully designed and planned by WeddingSutra Favorite – Mandap Martini, every celebration reflected the couple’s vision of intimate gatherings, meaningful moments and understated elegance. From cosy pre-wedding festivities filled with laughter and connection to a garden wedding at home, each event was brought to life with meticulous planning.

How They Met
What began in the classrooms of Berkeley grew into a love story that effortlessly stood the test of time and distance. Seerat and Dhruv met while studying at the university and had been together for nearly nine years before tying the knot in India. Along the way, their relationship spanned cities and continents, with long-distance chapters between San Francisco and Delhi, San Francisco and Barcelona, Amsterdam and Dublin. Through every move and milestone, they built a relationship rooted in patience, partnership and unwavering commitment, making their homecoming celebration all the more meaningful.

Wedding Planning
The couple shares, “The cosy pre-wedding events were definitely the most special. We got to spend quality time and celebrate with our friends and family in smaller groups, which felt so true to who we are. That said, every event was unique and special, and we honestly couldn’t choose one over the other.”

For founder and planner Ria Azad of Mandap Martini, the wedding carried an emotional significance beyond her professional role. She recalls, “As a planner and a friend, this was the first and probably the only wedding that I worked on while also attending as a guest. Seerat and I met during our high school days at dance classes and somehow stayed in touch through the years. It’s funny how life comes full circle. When Mandap Martini had just begun, Seerat would recommend us to so many aunties, saying, ‘If it was my wedding, I’d ask Ria to do it.’ And when her wedding finally came around, she called and said, ‘I want you to attend the wedding properly.’ I don’t think I slept for four nights straight before the celebrations, but every moment was absolutely worth it.”

Working with the couple across continents meant that their journey together began with virtual meetings, shared ideas, and countless conversations from afar for months. But when Dhruv and Seerat arrived in Chandigarh a little before the wedding, all that virtual planning finally moved into real life. For those days, their home became the team’s office. There was something beautiful about how everything unfolded in the very spaces that would soon become part of the celebrations themselves. The room where the final logistics were planned and details were worked through was the very same room where the dholki played and everyone gathered for dance practices.

The couple adds, “Bringing Mandap Martini onboard was one of the best decisions we made. While we have family members in the wedding industry, having someone who truly understood our vision without any preconceived notions was invaluable. Since we both lived outside India, the team’s responsiveness and ability to collaborate online made all the difference. The team’s creative instinct really shone through in the décor. They understood exactly what we wanted, coordinated every vendor and brought everything to life beautifully. Thank you to the entire Mandap Martini team for giving us and our loved ones memories we’ll cherish forever.”

Sangeet
As Seerat is an amazing dancer herself, and with Ria and Seerat having first met through their dance sessions, the wedding dances were always going to be an important part of the celebrations. The Sangeet was planned around that shared love for dance – with performances that brought together family, friends and a whole lot of energy.

The evening had a warm, effortless feel, with OG Punjabi and Bollywood beats, laughter and plenty of dancing carrying the celebrations well into the night. It was less about putting on a perfect show and more about everyone coming together, having fun and making the evening feel truly theirs.

Wedding
Held in the garden of the bride’s home in Mohali, the wedding was rich with sentiment. The familiar setting transformed into an enchanting floral sanctuary, where lush blooms and understated elegance elevated the natural beauty of the space. Every detail was designed to let the emotions of the ceremony take centre stage, creating an atmosphere that felt intimate, serene and profoundly moving. Surrounded by the people who mattered most, Seerat and Dhruv exchanged vows in a setting where love, family and thoughtful design came together in perfect harmony.
