Shalini and Gaurav, New Delhi
From creative décor to customized family outfits, this bride planned and conceptualized her dream wedding to a magical reality.
From a whirlwind romance to a wonderful engagement, Shalini and Gaurav’s romance entered a new stage when they tied the knot at an intimate ceremony. All the meaningful moments were captured by WeddingSutra Favorite – Weddings by Knotty Days. Here are a few highlights of the festivities.
How They Met
Delhi-based Shalini and Gaurav met each other through an arranged marriage setup, and quickly bonded over their love for food, specifically Italian cuisine. Over numerous pasta dates they forged a deep bond and realized they had found their soulmate in each other. Shalini got her dream proposal over a classic romantic dinner at Ditas, Mehrauli, where Gaurav popped the question.
Wedding Venue
The bride shares, “Even though it was winter, I wanted an outdoor wedding at dusk, and we immediately fell in love with Udman Hotels & Resorts on NH8, outside Delhi. Their lush lawn with a dainty lake and a bridge was a picture perfect venue for our nuptials, while their elegant glasshouse and indoor venues with vintage chandeliers made for magical settings.”
Wedding Planning
All the wedding planning, from the decor to outfits for her family were planned and conceptualized by the bride, with loads of ideas and inspiration from Pinterest and other online portals. The elegant, floral invitations and ‘Save the Dates’ reminders were designed by the bride herself. The romantic pastel wedding decor was created by Ferns N Petals and all the lovely moments were captured by the talented team of Weddings by Knotty Days.
Wedding Functions
Engagement
The festivities kicked off with the engagement and sangeet ceremony hosted in the grand gilded bathroom of the Wedding Opera banquet hall in Delhi. A decadent entrance featuring a profusion of pink blooms welcomed the guests. The bride’s onion pink embellished lehenga from Christina WT was perfectly coordinated with the groom’s pink sherwani from Gujralsons.
Haldi
The haldi ceremony was a vibrant affair with sunny decor of yellow, orange and pink elements, with marigolds adorning every surface. The bride’s seat was decorated with a spectacular floral ring structure where her oil, haldi and kaleerein (bridal bangles) ceremonies took place. She teamed her minimaIistic yellow saree with pretty floral jewellery.
Mehndi
The sundowner mehndi saw a profusion of vibrant pink hues with a floral canopy and flowing drapes. The evening included fun, drinks and spectacular performances. Shalini shimmered in a lime green lehenga with mirror work from Mint & Blush, which she paired with fresh flowers in her hair and dewy makeup. All the women of the wedding party accessorized their look with customized latkans that was embroidered with titles depicting their relation to Shalini.
Wedding
“I always wanted to be a Sabyasachi bride. To match the romantic, pastel color palette of my wedding decor, I got a blush pink lehenga with gold work,” shares Shalini. The beguiling floral entrance was conceptualized by the bride and executed by Ferns N Petals. In a surprise that was planned by the bride’s parents, she entered amidst a magical foggy aisle and cold pyro to the tune of ‘A Thousand Years.’
