Wedding Planning
“During the wedding planning stage, WeddingSutra was of great help. There is no dearth of bridal ideas and inspirations on the website and you get a fair idea of what’s trending. The articles that I read also gave a clear picture of the designers, photographers and makeup artists who matched my style and helped me decide how I should go ahead with my wedding planning. My mother was the most important person in helping me decide all my outfits. Anoop Padalkar was our photographer for the celebrations, and Sanjana Bandesha Makeup n Hair Concepts took care of the hair and makeup for all the functions of my wedding, and most importantly, ensured that my look was different for each function.”
Wedding Venue
The wedding took place at the Khanvel Resort in Silvassa, amidst lush greenery and picturesque landscapes. Equipped with 156 rooms, 18 cottages, two bungalows and up-to-date banqueting facilities, the resort served as an ideal venue for this lively wedding.
Wedding Functions
Ring ceremony
“The ring ceremony marked the beginning of the festivities. I wore an emerald green lehenga from Roopkala in Mumbai and paired it with kundan jewellery. We opted for simple floral decor for this ceremony.”
Pool Party
“We infused popping neon colors with elements from Rajasthan for the pool party. The colors of the balloons and streamers strung over the pool alongside the traditional figurines went well together and brought about a unique quirkiness to the setup. For this event, I chose to wear a blue gown customized by Legacy Studios in Mumbai, skipped the heavy jewellery and added a wreath on my head to keep the look light and breezy.”
Sangeet
“For my sangeet, I was looking for an outfit that was easy to manage so that I could truly enjoy myself and dance the night away! Keeping that in mind, I wore a purple gown designed by Sujata at Legacy Studios which has embroidered accents. My makeup artist Sanjana Bandesha tucked my hair away into an elegant updo.” Chiran wore a modern peach silk sherwani jacket over a black kurta and brown trousers.
Wedding
“Unlike the norm, I decided to wear different outfits for my pheras and ‘varmala’ (garland ceremony). I had always wanted to wear red as a bride, so for the varmala, I went for a red lehenga from Legacy Studios, and had them customize the outfit as per my taste. To complete this royal look, I paired it with the perfect ‘mathapati’ (forehead ornament) and uncut diamond jewellery. Since I did not want to repeat my ‘varmala’ outfit for the pheras which many people suggested that I do, I went for a banarasi dual tone lehenga from Mumbai’s Ratanshi Kheraj Sarees and got it customized at Legacy Studios. I wore traditional ‘jhumkas’ (long ethnic earrings) to match the look of the lehenga.”
Chiran made an entry to the wedding on a horse. A colorful umbrella over his head added that traditional color to his appearance. Clad in a cream sherwani with intricate dull gold embroidery, Chiran looked regal in his matching turban and necklace.
Reception
“For the reception, we had the stage decorated in elegant white. To be in sync with the elegant decor, I decided to keep my outfit understated yet graceful. I opted for a peach gown from a designer store named Roopkala in Mumbai which had a pretty floral motifs designed in gold thread embroidery. I paired this with kundan necklace and earrings, and flowing locks.”
Chiran donned a classic black three-piece suit with a white shirt and a bow tie.
Advice To Couple
“Brides, don’t look for too many wedding outfit options – the more you see, the more you get confused. When you find the right one, just pick it up and look no further.”
