Shveta and Aatish, Chandigarh
With quirky elements like a Vespa scooter and giant butterflies, this couple’s haldi was a breezy and colorful event.
Shveta and Aatish had planned a beautiful wedding in Mussoorie, but were compelled to change their plans and wedding location due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Here they share highlights of their Chandigarh nuptials whose big and small moments were captured in evocative frames by WeddingSutra Favorite – Sunny Dhiman Photography.
How They Met
Aatish shares, “Our first meeting took place in a very traditional setup where Shveta and I were both accompanied by both our families. However, even before we’d met, she and I had informed our families that even though we had agreed for the meeting, we would not be getting married. Ironically, fate had different plans for us because from the first time I saw Shveta, I just couldn’t keep her out of my mind. It’s safe to say that I was spellbound from the very first meeting and we quickly said ‘Yes’ to the wedding!”
Wedding Planning
“Initially, we had planned a beautiful destination wedding in Mussoorie, however, as the COVID-19 pandemic raged on, things came to a halt and we had to change our plans. Thankfully, we’d shot our pre-wedding portraits just before the lockdown was announced. As the unlock plans were announced by the government, we revisited our plans and this time settled for the lush landscape of Chandigarh for a quiet but joyous wedding.”
On the photography front, the couple roped in Sunny Dhiman Photography whose skill behind the lens impressed them. “Due to the sudden change in our plans, we had to switch many vendors, but not once did we think of changing our photography team. The Sunny Dhiman Photography team has been an absolute pleasure to work with right from day one where they did the photography for our roka function too. The entire team was extremely receptive to our suggestions, flexible and a source of comfort as both of us are rather shy in front of cameras. Each picture and video has come out perfectly, and we highly recommend them to others too.”
Weddings Functions
Mehndi and Haldi
Hosted under the open sky, the joint mehndi and haldi ceremonies were colorful affairs where the couple basked in the love of their families. The haldi, especially, was a cheery event where Shveta and Aatish were welcomed by their respective families to the venue that was vibrantly decorated with flowers, butterflies, and colorful tassels.
Engagement and Cocktail
Amping up the glamor stakes, the engagement and cocktail were held in the evening. The striking setup included a bold LED hashtag surrounded by lush green foliage. The expansive dancefloor and a stage with LED backdrops were instant hits, and the couple was welcomed with flashlights in guests’ cell phones.
Wedding
For their sundowner wedding, the duo decided to take the classic route with a red and gold color palette that dazzled under the night sky. Lit up with ornate crystal lamps, and decorated with wooden and brass elements, and red and white blooms, the decor exuded classic Indian vibes. As Shveta made her way down the aisle towards Aatish, the love in the air was palpable as they exchanged affectionate glances before the rituals commenced.
Advice For Couples
“Planning a wedding during COVID-19 is a stressful affair and even though we couldn’t invite all our family and friends, we had an absolutely wonderful time celebrating our union. What is destined to happen, we believe, will happen. So we would advise everyone to enjoy these moments replete with love completely.”
