This couple’s minimalist lattice work wedding mandap looked right at home against the hills of Mussoorie.
Surrounded by the beauty of the mountains, Simran and Aman’s destination wedding in Mussoorie resembled a fairytale. Embracing the spirit of the hill station the couple along with WeddingSutra Favorite – Whistling Teel, experimented with themes and decor elements that looked perfectly in tandem with mother nature’s beauty.
How They Met
Goa-based Simran met Mumbai-based Aman on a slow Saturday evening as Simran shares, “I happened to bump into Aman at a private members club. As there was no one to introduce us, I carried on with my evening of solitude. Thank goodness Aman found the courage to come talk to a stranger. And from that first hello, a conversation that carried into the wee hours of the morning. We started talking that night, and haven’t stopped talking since.”
Wedding Planning
Simran shares, “Since I hail from a Konkani family and Aman from a Punjabi family, we knew from the get-go that it was going to be a whirlwind affair!
Aman and I wanted an intimate wedding from the start. Being from coastal cities, both of us wanted a wedding experience that was unique, different and memorable. Both of us being nature lovers, were better than the hills to celebrate the promise of a lifetime. Quite funnily, though never having been to Mussoorie before, we could think of no other place to celebrate our wedding. We were deeply involved in the planning process right from the beginning and right down to every detail. I wanted to create a magical two days, at one of the most unique wedding locations, a wedding to remember for us and all our loved ones.”
Helming their wedding planning was Whistling Teel who with their expertise made the wedding a smooth experience for the couple. Simran shares, “On our first trip to Mussoorie we met with the Whistling Teel team. Our very first conversation with them reflected their genuineness and experience. We knew then, we had to look no further. The decor execution, florals and production were beautifully executed by the experienced team. Our vision and ideas were brought to life by the extremely remarkable team at Whistling Teel, without whom none of this would have been possible to achieve!”
Wedding Functions
Haldi
Simran shares, “Conceptualised as a Picnic in the Mountains, we went for bright colours, fun florals, birds and butterflies. Set with the backdrop of the hills, this was a perfect welcome to our guests who had so much fun slathering us with haldi.”
Sangeet
Simran shares, “Our sangeet was conceptualised as a maximalist dramatic setting. Red was the colour of the evening, with dramatic drapes, chandeliers, florals and carpets. We wanted our sangeet to shine through the drama of music, dance and merriment.”
Wedding
The bride shares, “The wedding was set in the lawns with a mandap constructed against the backdrop of the beautiful mountain range, and we wanted the hills to be the centre of attention. Right in the centre of the lawns is a Walnut tree, standing strong for over 100 years, and that to us felt like the perfect symbol and sentiment to commemorate our promise to each other. Our decor, reflected an intimate winter garden setting, with white detailing and personal elements.”
Cocktail
The bride shares, “The final event was a cocktail party, one where we wanted to celebrate under the stars of the beautiful night sky. And we designed it exactly as such. We chose a starry night theme, complete with midnight blue decor, winter florals, LED light structures and electric blue elements.”
