Simran and Nick, Thailand
Memories of their teen romance and love story milestones were part of Nick and Simran's beautiful wedding in Thailand.
Simran and Nick’s dream destination wedding at Thailand curated by WeddingSutra Favorite – I Do Etc. was a beautiful showcase of their fairytale romance which started when they were teenagers. Captured on camera by another WeddingSutra Favorite – Picture Perfect India and Ali G Studios the special moments of this four-day wedding was all about fun, nostalgia and entertainment at its very best.
How They Met
Accidentally introduced through a telephonic conversation by a mutual friend, Simran and Nick’s love blossomed through Facebook chats and late-night phone conversations, until Nick asked her out at a friend’s birthday party, all when they were as young as 15! What followed was a lengthy period of 8 years of a long-distance courtship which ultimately culminated into an eventful wedding.
Wedding Planning
The couple always knew that they wanted to get married in Thailand with its beautiful beaches, delicious food, gorgeous resorts, and dreamy waters. However, zeroing down the venue was quite a daunting task for which the couple visited over 20 resorts and hotels in the country until they finalized the Sheraton Hua Hin Resort and Spa. I Do Etc. Helped the couple plan and execute all the ceremonies and parties meticulously. The theme for every function was based on the milestones of Nick and Simran’s heartwarming love-story.
Wedding Functions
Civil Wedding
Simran and Nick’s sunset civil wedding was a sophisticated and romantic ceremony in which the couple exchanged vows of love and commitment. The decor was a pristine combination of blues and whites, with floral arrangements in these shades and twinkling chandeliers. Simran wore an elegant white wedding gown by Blackburn Bridal Couture for this ceremony, and Nick looked dapper in a matching white suit by Bobby Fashions.
Welcome Dinner & ‘Back to School’ Party
The second day of the wedding saw a Welcome Dinner hosted for all the guests, and a special party thrown for the younger ones. The theme of the welcome dinner was based on the hit Bollywood movie ‘Jab We Met’ with the guests conforming to the dress code of Indo-Western fusion. The decor consisted of beautiful canopies decorated with lush foliage, flowers, and tea-lights. The youngsters’ party, keeping in mind the couple’s high-school romance, had a ‘Back-to-School’ theme with fun decor comprising a dance floor with timetables, a school bus bar and a crayon booth for DJ Kilogram who played foot-tapping tracks from the early 2000s. Simran looked radiant in a gorgeous navy blue ensemble at the dinner and a glamorous white lace skirt and top at the party.
Pool Party
The pre-wedding pool party was themed ‘Around The World’ and was based on the long-distance phase of the couple’s relationship. The decor for the party was done in vibrant colors and included elements from different parts of the world. Simran looked gorgeous in bright red floral coordinates designed by Shivan & Naresh. Nick matched his bride’s vibe in a red T-shirt and floral shorts.
Sangeet
The sangeet was a Bollywood themed affair with a stage that was reminiscent of a classic Hindi movie dance stage done up in the regal combination of purple and gold. Simran wore a gorgeous golden lehenga from Falguni Shane Peacock. However, it was Nick who stole the show in his purple and gold sherwani from Shantanu and Nikhil.
Wedding
Simran and Nick’s wedding, themed ‘Forever After,’ was an extravagant affair. A picturesque sea-side ceremony, the wedding function saw pretty pink and white decor which made for a picture-perfect sight. The bride arrived in a boat through the pool with the blowing of conch shells and chants in the background and then walked down the aisle with her brothers holding up a traditional floral canopy over her head. The pheras took place under a magnificent white draped canopy decorated with dainty pink roses. Simran, dressed in a blush pink Sabyasachi Mukherjee outfit, looked regal alongside her groom dressed by the same designer in a white sherwani and a blush pink shawl.
Reception
Dedicated to the media professions of the couple, their reception was an Oscars-themed night. Fun awards were given away to the guests, and the decor, with luscious red blooms and gold accents, was inspired by an actual Grammy’s stage design. Dazzling in a striking navy blue gown designed by Shantanu and Nikhil, Simran stole the show by singing a medley of the couple’s favorite love songs over the years. Looking smitten by his gorgeous wife, Nick too looked dapper in an exquisite white bow-tie suit designed by SS HOMME – Sarah and Sandeep.
Advice For Couples
“I think the most important tip we can offer is that a couple should enjoy their wedding. Most couples find it very hard to let go of the minor details. Things are going to go wrong, and that is inevitable no matter how much you plan, but the wedding days and special moments will never come back so have a blast!”
