Sinjoini and Justin, Nilaya Hermitage, Goa
This couple brought out the freshness into their wedding space by mixing modern decor with traditional themes.
Tinderella, Sinjoini, met the love of her life, Justin, on a dating app. The duo went a long way from meeting to dating and finally moving in. They soon tied the knot in an intimate wedding in Goa. WeddingSutra Favourite – Pataka Events left no stones unturned in making their nuptials beautiful and forever memorable.
How They Met
The happy bride shares, “After completing my Ph.D. from the University of California, I created a tinder account in an impulsive bid to find my prince charming, where I stumbled across his profile. After knowing he was from the same field as mine, I swiped right on him, and it was a perfect match.”
The Proposal
“After dating for two years, living-in, meeting each other’s families, and adopting a cat together, we knew marriage would be the next logical step. He planned a special date at a rooftop restaurant in San Jose, with a beautiful view of the city where he proposed marriage to me. We celebrated the evening by ordering champagne and our favorite food”, recalls the blushing bride.”
Wedding Venue
Sinjoini shares, “We visited Goa with our parents one year before our wedding dates. After exploring a couple of venues, I suggested we check Nilaya Hermitage that I came across on recent blogs I’d read. As soon as we entered, we were convinced with their homely and peaceful vibe and instantly booked it for our wedding.”
Wedding Planning
The happy bride shares, “Ayesha and Joshua from Pataka Events were wonderful with their event designs. They assimilated all our ideas and gave us interesting inputs to give them life. For the actual wedding, they did an amazing job on all of the decor, delivering more than what was promised. For most of our functions, Justin and I designed our outfits with the help of my mother.”
Wedding Functions
Cocktail
The event followed a ‘Hollywood Bling’ themed party decorated with sun lanterns and blue shimmery table overlays. With the guests feasting on an American Barbecue, the cocktail night was the perfect way to kick-start the wedding festivities. The bride donned a Betsy and Adam beige gown while the groom looked dapper in a black tuxedo by Raymond paired with a purple Calvin Klein shirt.
Haldi
The theme for the sunny, haldi function was ‘Floral Sunrise’ decorated with bright orange and yellow drapes. Going in sync with the color palette, fresh marigold strings were festooned across the entire venue. The bride and the groom complemented each other in matching orange outfits.
Mehndi
Pataka Events curated their mehndi function with Moroccan inspired decor elements by hanging the fairy lights from trees and making the entire venue glow with colorful up-lights. After all the ladies in the house had their hands painted with henna, they took to the dance floor and grooved to the upbeat music and binged on delectable Mediterranean food. The bride donned a red crop top with a skirt from Meena Bazaar while Justin looked great in a slate-grey kurta and bottoms.
Wedding
After registering their wedding officially in San Francisco, the couple had a white wedding in Lincolnshire, three months before their Indian wedding, where they picked elegant numbers like a white gown and slate-grey suit for the ceremony. For their traditional wedding in Goa, they were at their royal best, wearing a light brown ensemble and bluish-grey sherwani. The fresh flowers and pastel drapes added a delicious freshness to their wedding function.
Reception
The last lap of the wedding ended with a grand reception in Bangalore. Following the theme of ‘Starry Starry Night,’ the entire place was adorned with lamps and fairy lights. Going along with a contemporary dress code, the bride wore a red gown and the groom styled a simple white, crisp shirt.
Advice For Couples
“Focus more on just having fun, rather than chasing the nitty-gritty. Make the wedding experience more memorable than the planning itself. Hiring a planner is the way to go even if you have a lot of different ideas that you think you can pull off yourself.”
