Sneha Mehta and Zerxes Irani, Taj Lands End, Mumbai
Showcasing their penchant for vibrant hues, this couple’s rainbow-inspired haldi celebration will have you taking notes!
Sneha Mehta and Zerxes Irani celebrated their big day by experimenting with different themes while expressing their affinity towards their cultural roots. WeddingSutra Favorite – The Lightsmiths captured the fusion wedding and the couple’s candid chemistry.
How They Met
Sneha shares, “Dance is a huge part of Zerxes and my love story! We met at a bachata/salsa event. And, while grooving together in a room full of people, we found our way to love.”
The Proposal
Recollecting the surprise proposal Zerxes orchestrated, Sneha shares, “He planned it all by himself and didn’t let me get a whiff of his plans till the very last moment. I headed to his place for drinks before dinner and to my utter disbelief, he had adorned his living room with fairy lights, champagne and cushions. On a whiteboard ‘Will You Marry Me?’ was written with a marker!”
Wedding Venue
The couple hosted all three of their wedding celebrations across three different venues. For the Hindu wedding and reception, the couple chose Taj Lands End, Mumbai where they had their heart set on the Seaside Lawns. Sneha shares, “Since we had the maximum guests at this event, we went for Taj Lands End. The staff, the management and the food – everything was extremely well organised! We had our magical entry and varmala moment during sunset and the sky that day could not have cooperated with us any more than it did! It was surreal.”
Wedding Planning
Photographing and filming the couple at their finest were The Lightsmiths who impressed them with their efficiency, skill and friendly rapport. Sneha tells us about her experience with the team, “The Lightsmiths were referred to me by a friend and after the first call itself, I was sure I wanted to go ahead with them. They were warm, welcoming and receptive to our input. They were candid in their discussions and even informed me about the pointers that I’d missed asking! With them capturing our wedding, everything just flowed so smoothly. We were completely ourselves with them around. They also gave us some helpful tips while posing for the lenses.”
Wedding Functions
Haldi
Sneha had always imagined the haldi celebration to be full of color and the duo gave their guests the option to wear any color from the rainbow. “The haldi ceremony was where we experimented. Our guests wore shades from the rainbow and the decor followed a similar theme. The shapes used in the design were curvy and organic to add a ‘fun’ element to the setup. We also added a few activity stalls where guests chose an evil eye charm to create any accessory they wanted, quirky candle stands, cotton candy stall, and tarot card reader!”
Parsi Wedding
Sneha shares, “The essence of a Parsi wedding is simplicity. Hence, we kept everything simple and minimal with two colors on the palette – white and red. Parsi cuisine had everyone going for second helpings and the drinks flowed freely.”
Hindu Wedding & Reception
Taking a cue from the ‘Gulab Bagh’ concept, i.e., a Rose Garden, the wedding setup revolved around pastel hues. Sneha gives us an overview, “The entire theme was executed with the perfect amount of pastels. Every element was well thought out and executed with extreme attention to detail – from the cushions, the styling, the frames and the colours of the flowers. We wanted it to be grand and subtle. Plus, all our guests were also accommodating as they followed the pastel dress code.”
Advice For Couples
Sneha shares a couple of pointers from her own experience:
1. I made a whole presentation for my team which consisted of every detail – our outfits, jewellery, makeup references, hair references, wedding photography styles, venues we selected and the decor themes we were considering. It gave the vendors and us a more streamlined view of things and a reference point in case of confusion.
2. As I started meeting prospective vendors, I also made it a habit to note down questions that I should be asking before finalising any of them. This gave me clarity and saved me from future hiccups.
3. Lastly, things may go wrong or won’t turn out exactly as you’d imagined. When this happens, accept it, don’t let it dampen your spirit and enjoy your day to the fullest.
