A tractor, 'Kissing Booth', the iconic Qutab Minar and rustic bar were just some of the fun elements at Raunak and Sonali's wedding functions
Our series, Featured Weddings brings you wonderful moments from weddings held at the finest venues across different cities. Here, we share Sonali and Raunak’s story and all about their wedding celebrations split between venues in Rudrapur in Uttarakhand and New Delhi.
How We Met
Raunak and Sonali are both currently based in New Delhi. Raunak is a leading lawyer, and Sonali works in the fashion industry. They first met in 2015.
Wedding Venues
The couple held their sangeet and wedding functions in Rudrapur, Uttarakhand. They had a traditional wedding at a gurudwara, followed by an intimate reception at Radisson Blu Metropolis in Rudrapur. Their mehndi function was organised at Q’la in Mehrauli, while the reception was at the Taj Mahal Hotel in New Delhi.
Wedding Functions
Sonali and Raunak were both actively involved in their wedding planning, and displayed a keen eye for details especially when it came to decor.
Mehndi
The mehndi ceremony had a backdrop of the iconic Qutub Minar monument. Held at Qla, a chic contemporary restaurant serving pan-Asian cuisine, the mehndi event was resplendent with quirky décor in the form of funky cycle rickshaws, bangle sellers, and exotic table centerpieces crafted from fruit. Sonali looked vibrant in a floral print dress by AUM Boutique in New Delhi. With colorful motifs and a broad hem, this flamenco-gown style dress was refreshingly different and fit the quirky vibe of the function perfectly.
Bachelor Party
The ‘Bachelor Party’ held in Rudrapur was conceptualized to add further fun and quirky elements to the event. Guests created lasting memories at the ‘Kissing Booth’, dart board, rustic bar, picture gallery and other fun activities. Sonali wore a lovely gown from Asiana Couture in New Delhi, and had no qualms climbing atop a tractor decorated with ‘parandis’ (hair accessories with tassels) and colourful cloth to pose with Raunak.
Sangeet, Engagement and Cocktail
The sangeet, engagement and cocktail events were held on the same day. The theme was ‘Gold & White’, and the decor comprised mainly candles and elegant floral arrangements. A photo booth added that fun element with quirky captions and props, and included the wedding details. A memory box was also present where friends and family wrote and submitted their messages for the couple. Sonali looked sensational in a Ritu Kumar lehenga, while Raunak wore a suit by New Delhi-based Dhruv Sehgal.
Wedding
The wedding rituals took place in a gurudwara in Rudrapur followed by a small reception attended by close family and friends at Radisson Blu Metropolis.
Reception
The formal reception took place at The Taj Mahal Hotel in New Delhi where the décor was all about the vintage vibe and subtle elegance. Floral decorations formed the highlight of the decor. Sonali wore a beautiful pastel high-collar lehenga by Anjalee and Arjun Kapoor which included stunning embroidery in shades of blue and silver, while Raunak looked dashing in a ‘bandh gala’ ensemble from Diwan Saheb which had beautiful gold embroidery along its collar.
