Sonia and Akshit, Jaipur

This bride’s lacy white engagement gown contrasted delightfully against the classic architecture of Jaipur.

Even though Sonia and Akshit were set up by their parents, both of them married each other on their own terms with a two to three-month courtship period. As they discovered love during these months, no time was wasted, and the couple decided to take the plunge and began their ‘happily ever after’ with a series of elegant ceremonies in Jaipur.

How They Met
Sonia and Akshit had their first meeting set up by their parents. However, transforming their arranged marriage to love marriage, the duo took their time and got to know each other better over a few months. Recognizing the instant chemistry in between them, the decision to tie the knot was quickly made and the rest, as they say, is history!

Wedding Venue
Equipped with the vision of celebrating a ‘royal Indian wedding’ that struck a fine balance between modern and traditional, the bride and groom chose The Vijayran Palace by Royal Quest Resorts which awed the guests with its palatial architecture, sprawling spaces and state of the art hospitality.

Wedding Planning
To ensure that their wedding went seamlessly, the couple took the wise decision of getting the most popular names in the industry onboard their team. This included videographers from The Wedding Files and photographer Amrit Arora who captured the essence of their nuptials with their expressive shots. Adding to the team was makeup artist Tripti Rastogi from Makeover by Tripti and hairstylist Firoz Khan who used their expertise to make sure that Sonia looked stunning in every shot. Choreographer Ankit ensured that not a beat was missed as he guided the couple through intricately choreographed dance steps.

Weddings Functions
Engagement
Going with the ‘Christian Wedding’ theme, the bride and groom’s engagement ceremony struck a pleasant contrast with the vintage architecture of the Pink City. With it’s white and gold color palette and minimalistic decor, the charming ceremony saw everyone don stylish western outfits.

Keeping the theme in mind, Sonia chose to wear a sheer sleeved lacy white gown while Akshit followed her lead in a white tuxedo.

Sagan
The Sagan ceremony was a glitzy yet laid-back affair with its Sufi theme that included a qawwali performance and hookahs for the guests to indulge in. Held under the dark night sky, the decor was well lit with pink lights reflecting on the palatial architecture while the duo took to the stage to celebrate their love amidst the sparklers.

Opting for rich jewel and earthy tones in her attire, Sonia donned a beige lehenga with a rich blue embroidered top that she accessorized with statement gold jewelry. Akshit, too, accurately followed the theme with his Indo-Arabian outfit that included a beige turban and a silver-black jacket.

Haldi
With its poolside theme, the Haldi stayed true to tradition with its all-yellow decor adorned tastefully with marigold blooms. Held under the bright sunlight, the ceremony was filled with fun, laughter, and friendly banter as Sonia and Akshit were smeared by their friends to get their pre-wedding glow on.

Glowing in her simple yellow saree, floral jewelry, and glares, the bride was all smiles as she happily posed with her soon-to-be-husband who looked handsome in a kurta with the same yellow hue.

Mehndi
An entertainment-filled event, the Mehndi left no stone unturned to make sure the guests had the time of their lives. With dancers, singers, a bangle-making stall, and kite flying, this ceremony celebrated the vibrant aspects of the Indian culture with its colorful decor. However, the highlight of the occasion was the smashing entry by the bride and groom who zoomed in on a motorcycle.

Reflecting on the colorful decor, Sonia donned a bright pink and green lehenga and adorned her side-swept braid with flowers. Showing off his vibrant personality, Akshit wore a sleeveless multicolored embroidered jacket that he paired with uber cool black glares.

Wedding
Keeping it elegant and traditional for the big day, the duo chose to keep the decor light and floral with pink and white hues dominating the color palette. Surrounded by horses and elephants the groom, in true ‘maharaja style’, made a magnificent entrance in a luxurious white Jaguar. Sonia, however, went old school and made her entrance on a palki.

For her big day, Sonia went for a maharani pink and gold lehenga that complemented her complexion which she accessorized with statement gold jewelry. Her bridesmaids too wore color coordinated outfits and looked stunning as they flanked the bride. Akshit also channeled his inner royal and opted for a pristine white sherwani paired with a red shawl and a layered ruby necklace.

Advice For Couples
The couple shares, “Advance planning is the key when it comes to beating wedding stress. Doing things last minute can not only stress you out but also force you to make hurried decisions that’ll later cause regret. Vendors, like, decorators and caterers should feature first on the ‘to-do’ list. Also, don’t keep the wardrobe trial for the last minute!”
