Sonia and Benjamin, The Royal Villa Resort, Amritsar
Sonia and Benjamin's stunning white wedding at a church in Amritsar followed a family tradition of the bride's family members getting married there over the years.
A white wedding gown, translucent veil, sharp tuxedo, vibrant lehenga, sherwani… This cross-cultural wedding was a feast for the eyes with its contrasting elements, from understated elegance at the church to vibrant pops of color at the party later in the evening. The moments and memories of Sonia and Benjamin’s lovely nuptials were captured by WeddingSutra Favorite – Sunny Dhiman Photography. Here, we share some highlights of their special day.
How We Met
Sonia lives in Germany and works in the fashion industry. Her parents are originally from Punjab. Benjamin also lives in Germany and works as an IT consultant in the healthcare industry. The two have known each other for over 14 years since they were in the same school but only got to know each other better three years ago. Over time, they fell in love after which Benjamin met Sonia’s parents to propose and finally popped the question on New Years Eve of 2017.
Wedding Functions
Wedding
The first part of the wedding took place at St. Paul’s Church in Amritsar. They chose this place since it is a tradition of Sonia’s family to get married in this church. After the white wedding ceremony, they continued the festivities at the Royal Villa Resort in Amritsar, where they had a big party with friends and family. Benjamin and Sonia tried to blend a modern and a traditional style of the wedding. They chose pink as the dominant color for the decor of the party after the church wedding. The decor at the church was a pleasing fusion of red and white elements. Sonia wore a white dress for the church wedding and changed into a beautiful traditional red lehenga later. On the other hand, Benjamin wore a black suit with a black bow tie at the church wedding and changed into a traditional beige golden sherwani with red buttons and red trousers later that evening.
Advice for Couples
“If you have fun organizing your wedding yourself, then you can do it, but if it is too much for you, then it is advisableSonia and Benjamin to hire a wedding planner. If you plan the wedding by yourself, you have to make sure you have enough time, because you need more time to execute everything than a trained wedding planner.”
