From 7 years to 7 vows, Sonika and Abhishek’s journey of love was celebrated with an intimate outdoor ceremony in the heart of the capital city. Planned by WeddingSutra Favorite – Plush Weddings, the festivities were full of unique ideas and elements that reflected the couple’s story and personalities, every moment of which was captured for eternity by WeddingSutra Favorite – Twogether Studios. How they met
Sonika and Abhishek’s journey started in 2014 as trainees and colleagues at Infosys in Mysore. Abhishek shares, “One evening, while I was dining at the food court, this pretty girl in red joined our table with a plate of two huge tandoori parathas – that was my first impression of Sonika and I still remember that vividly. Over numerous conversations and our love for tandoori parathas, we slowly fell in love and with every high and low, phases of difficulty and long-distance we just got closer before eventually deciding to take our bond to the next level”.
The Proposal
He continues, “I planned a romantic date in one of the outdoor tents in The Lodhi Delhi. By the time I started talking about our relationship, Sonika seemed to catch on to the fact that something big was coming up! I took her for a stroll before reaching the tent, which was elegantly decorated with roses and champagne. As she was soaking up the decor, I kneeled before her and asked her to marry me. An excited ‘yes’ coupled with a whole lot of emotions, we celebrated over a great dinner, amazing drinks, dancing and pictures to preserve the memory of that special night”.
Wedding Planning
The couple wanted a rousing celebration with Dhols and found their perfect venue at The Grand New Delhi. Envisaging an intimate celebration with unique decor and elements that matched their personalities, they brought on board Plush Weddings. Talking about their experience working with them, they share, “The team of Plush Weddings was absolutely amazing! They understood our requirements completely and executed them to a T, with extreme attention to detail. They were also very well managed and pulled off everything smoothly”

Wedding Functions
Haldi
The festivities kicked off with an intimate Haldi celebration on the terrace of their hotel suite. Keeping decorations and revelries to a minimum, the ceremony was filled with warm, family moments of love and enjoyment.
Wedding
For their wedding, the couple decided to give traditional festivities and decor a miss and instead went for a romantic bohemian evening of celebration. The lush outdoor soiree was filled with colorful blooms, elegant pastel furnishings, pampas grass for a rustic touch with an abundance of fairy lights. Quirky signages guided the guests in through a floral entrance, while the seating was barn style long tables with floral and fairy light canopies. Cozy teepees, party games like beer pong and Jenga, as well as live music and Dhol beats all added to the laidback, fun ambience for everyone to relish an evening of games and enjoyment. The stunning 3 layered cake featured 3 different flavors and won everyone’s hearts.
After Party
With a groovy setting of black and neon lights, the after-party had everyone reveling into the wee hours of the morning. The couple’s personal war cry ‘Tigers Only’, which calls for positive and motivated people with a tiger’s spirit, found its way into the decor with funky lights along with special sunglasses and other elements that further added to the fun of the occasion.
Advice for couples
“If you have time, start planning your wedding a year in advance! It can get overwhelming, so take all the help you get from your friends and families! If you are an independent couple like us who like to manage every element of your wedding, enjoy the process. Weddings last a couple of days but the experience of planning it and imagining every aspect also gives you a lot of joy, and that feeling must be embraced and cherished”.
