Subah Singh and Akshaj Sharma, Araya Bagh New Delhi
Adorned in earthy and pastel hues and featuring an unconventional, upbeat bidaai, this phera ceremony was modern and brimming with warm, relatable moments!
Planned by WeddingSutra Favorite – Badhai Ho Events and hosted at the stunning Araya Bagh New Delhi, Subah Singh and Akshaj Sharma’s wedding was a thoughtfully curated celebration that balanced high-energy festivities with moments of quiet emotion. Each event reflected a distinct mood while staying true to the couple’s shared vision.

Wedding Venue
Set against a lush, open canvas in the heart of the city, Araya Bagh New Delhi offered the couple a versatile setting that transitioned seamlessly from high-energy glamour to serene daytime elegance. The expansive lawns allowed for a dramatic cocktail-style engagement with statement lighting and fluid guest movement, while the wedding day unfolded under soft natural light, lending warmth to the mandap and ceremonies. Its indoor and outdoor flexibility ensured each event felt distinct in mood yet cohesive in flow, creating an atmosphere that was both grand and intimate in equal measure.
Wedding Planning
From the outset, Subah and Akshaj had a clear yet layered vision for their celebrations. “For the engagement and cocktail, we wanted something grand, glamorous, and high-energy, where extended family, friends, and business circles could come together and truly celebrate,” they share. In contrast, the wedding day was designed to feel calm, intimate, and emotionally rich. “We wanted a soulful day wedding that felt warm and meaningful,” the couple explains. Their inspirations ranged from Pinterest visuals and backyard-style weddings to cultural elements they admired across traditions.
Translating this vision into reality was Badhai Ho Events. “Our approach was to ensure every event had its own personality while still feeling cohesive,” shares Kunal Sah from Badhai Ho Events. He adds, “The celebrations included a cocktail-style engagement reception attended by extended families and business guests, along with memorable, personal moments. The bride and groom proposing to each other on one knee during the cocktail became a viral highlight. Wedding-day details such as flower girls, aisle walks with placards, Kalira lamps, a custom mandap inspired by Pinterest, Japanese umbrellas for guest comfort, handheld fans printed with vows, and a guest message board added meaning without excess. A handwritten letter from the bride and a poem recited by the groom’s mother brought an emotional depth to the ceremonies.”
Elevating the guest experience further was Blue Sea Catering, whose thoughtfully curated menus balanced indulgence with finesse. From interactive counters at the cocktail to a refined spread for the daytime wedding, the culinary journey was as carefully orchestrated as the décor, ensuring every celebration felt complete.

Wedding Functions
Engagement & Cocktail
The engagement was envisioned as a bold and glamorous affair with a red and gold palette. Velvet textures, deep wine hues, rich drapes, gold accents, and mirrored elements created a luxurious setting. The outdoor areas featured dramatic draping and lounge seating, while the indoor spaces carried coordinated décor with mirror-work bars and plush furnishings. The evening included multiple dance performances followed by a high-energy after-party that continued until early morning. Fun, glitzy, and full of energy, it unfolded exactly as the couple had imagined, with guests finally heading home around 5 a.m.

Mehendi
The Mehendi embraced a pink and orange Moroccan souk-inspired theme that felt cheerful and relaxed. Carpets, low seating, bright cushions, and vibrant accents set the tone. A personalised bar featuring the couple’s hashtag, a wheel cart for bridal accessories, and thoughtfully styled tables added charm.

Haldi
The Haldi featured a traditional yellow setup accented with brass elements. Urli arrangements, oil lamps, marigolds, matkas, and subtle golden details created a festive yet rooted atmosphere.

Wedding
The wedding décor was minimal and earthy, using rattan, jute, terracotta, pastel florals, and muted tones. Hints of peach and pink complemented the palette of sage green, beige, and white. Soft florals such as eustoma, lilies, and hydrangeas were paired with cane baskets and terracotta vases to create a cohesive look. A non-traditional bidaai set to an upbeat song shifted the mood from solemn to celebratory. Nephews and nieces walked the aisle with placards and flowers, while a guest message board filled with 59 handwritten notes became a cherished keepsake.

Advice For Couples
The couple reflects, “Weddings will get stressful,” the couple shares. “Have two or three trusted people on each side who understand all vendor details so you can stay present. Also remember to eat, hydrate, and take breaks. We barely did.”
