How They Met
Swati shares, “Both of us met at school. I attended a girls’ school called Tiffin Girls’ School and Kamlesh went to the boys’ school called Tiffin Boys’ School. But as destiny would have it, both our schools had a shared course and that’s where we first met. He somehow procured my email id and gradually, what started as a great friendship slowly grew into love. We’ve been together for 10 years now and our love still stands strong.”

The Proposal
For the proposal, Kamlesh took a nostalgic route and decided to pop the question by the River Thames. Swati recalls, “Kamlesh took me to the park by the River Thames, a place we would frequently visit as kids. There’s always been a bench over there that we shared, and it’s been a magical place for both of us, full of memories. As we both took our place there, Kamlesh went down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was such a sweet and meaningful gesture at a place that has been significant in shaping our relationship.”

Wedding Venue
Equipped with the vision of a rustic wedding, laden with the rich culture of Rajasthan, the couple chose the stately Samode Palace in Jaipur. Explaining the thought process behind their choice, Swati shares, “We wanted our close-knit wedding to reflect the rich culture and history of Rajasthan woven through it. The Samode Palace was the perfect fit with its 475-year-old history and its breathtaking architecture. It has a variety of unique spaces that we were keen on using for our different functions.”

Wedding Planning
With a highly skillful team backing them, Swati and Kamlesh successfully executed their dream wedding. Describing her journey, Swati shares, “Planning a wedding from London was an extremely challenging task until I stumbled across WeddingSutra. Going through the website I was inspired and was spurred on to contact the most popular names in the industry to orchestrate my wedding. The WeddingSutra app let me shortlist my chosen vendors which is an immensely helpful feature when you are miles away. The first on my list was Naman Verma Photography whose work just blew me away. Naman and his team’s every click has a story behind it, which is so expressive that it always takes me back in time.”

Makeup artist Jasmeet Kapany and hairstylist Arya Ruchi used their expert skills to make sure the bride looked stunning in every click. Choreographer Sakshi Malik rehearsed tirelessly to execute sensational dance numbers.

Weddings Functions

Haldi
A vibrant affair, the haldi moved away from the usual and was instead celebrated with an eclectic and colorful twist. While traditional yellow marigold garlands hung from the trees, the couple was welcomed with a flurry of color all thanks to their friends who held up smoke bombs.

Standing out of the crowd was the bride who wore a breezy white lehenga with multicolored prints paired with floral jewelry. Kamlesh, however, stayed true to tradition and wore a soft yellow kurta with a white salwar.

Sangeet
For sangeet, the couple amped up the glamor quotient and chose to celebrate it within the palatial venue. The soft golden light cast a muted glow over the stage, which put everyone at ease to dance freely. Adding in on the fun, the bride and groom also played the customary wedding games.

Swati dazzled in an earthy salwar kameez set which made a pretty sight as she twirled prettily on stage. Kamlesh also cut a dashing figure in a merlot colored bandhgala.

Wedding
Following their dream of a rustic wedding with Rajasthani elements, the duo executed a truly traditional wedding with an array of pink, peach and white flowers adorning their mandap. With a phere ceremony akin to a fairytale, Swati and Kamlesh were showered by rose petals and blessings by their loved ones. The heritage architecture also lent a royal charm to the nuptials with its artistic and colorful walls.

For her big day, Swati chose a timeless ruby red lehenga with golden embroidery. Complementing the pristine white walls of the venue, Kamlesh opted for a white sherwani which he paired with a golden shawl and turban.

Reception
Fusing glamour with elegance, the newlyweds celebrated the beginning of their new journey by cutting a three-tiered wedding cake while being cheered on by their friends. Adding a touch of romance to the occasion were a slew of candles that lit up the royal staircases of the venue.

A vision in an off white and gold embroidered lehenga, Swati took to the dancefloor with Kamlesh who wore a black velvet bandhgala for their first dance as husband and wife.

Advice For Couples
“Weddings can be a stressful time so always stay connected to your squad who’ll ease your stress. Keep an organized diary to plan efficiently and break the wedding planning into smaller and more manageable segments. Avoid micromanaging and don’t obsess over being a perfectionist as this will only add to your woes. Believe me, you won’t even notice those really small details on your big day!”, shares Swati.
