Swati & Tanishq, Aahana Resort, Jim Corbett
A wedding where Kumaoni heritage met hospitality in the heart of Jim Corbett.
The wedding celebrations of Swati and Tanishq, director of Aahana Resort, were thoughtfully curated to reflect luxury while also showcasing their Kumaoni roots. From decor details that complemented the Jim Corbett National Park to temple-inspired aesthetics WeddingSutra Favorite – Unik Experiences ensured that the celebrations stayed true to the couple’s vision.

Wedding Planning
Swati and Tanishq started their journey with a prayer to nature. They followed an age-old tradition and tied a kalawa (sacred thread) around the tree at the local Garjia Devi Temple, seeking blessings for their union. When their wish was fulfilled, they returned to the same tree and tied another kalawa, along with a bell, as a mark of thanks and devotion. Right there, under the tree’s quiet shade and in the presence of nature, they performed the sindoor daan, choosing the Earth itself to witness and bless their bond.
This respect for nature and their culture was reflected in the planning and execution of the celebrations by Unik Experiences, who worked to ensure a truly Kumaoni flavor for the wedding.

Engagement
The celebrations started with an engagement celebration that reflected the essence of Corbett’s forest charm.
The decor fused burnt orange, terracotta, beige, and jute textures with pampas, wood, and rattan accents. Canopies, warm-toned lounges, and wild florals gave it a boho-luxe vibe, rooted in the outdoors. It served as a soft, graceful welcome to the wedding festivities, introducing guests to the signature Unik aesthetic—natural, grounded, and elegant.

The Kumaoni Haldi
The Haldi ceremony at the Sindoori Lawn was not just about rituals—it was a deep dive into Kumaoni culture. The vibrant decor featured Aipan art installations, colorful pichoras, marigold-draped blue door backdrops, and bamboo crafts.
Guests were welcomed with tilak, flower garlands, and could participate in Aipan painting corners and dress up in traditional Kumaoni attire.
The cuisine featured local dishes such as bhatt ki churkani and bhang chutney and was served in clayware. Desserts like bal mithai were used as decorative pieces, and traditional Kumaoni jewellery was used in the centerpieces and hangings. The servers were also dressed up in Kumaoni Attire.
Live Choliya dance performances and games elevated the energy, making it a haldi that celebrated culture as much as color.

Ghazal Night
The ‘Rang-e-Ghazal – Soulful & Poetic’ night was an open-air celebration that marked the transition from day functions to evening elegance. Decor in deep red velvets, candle-lit tables, vintage furniture, and gold detailing set a romantic and intimate tone. The evening was filled with soothing ghazals, live singing, and elegant lounging under string lights.
The Great Indian Sangeet
With a theme of traditional Indian royalty with accents of maroon, gold and champagne, the sangeet was a grand, high-energy evening full of performances, family emotions, and celebration. The indoors, had a bold and regal décor, with traditional motifs, and dramatic lighting. An artist stage, a couple stage, installations, and long-table decor created a perfect blend of grandeur and intimacy.

Wedding
The wedding was held by the poolside with the Bijrani Zone as the backdrop. The wedding drew inspiration from the nearby Garjia Devi Temple, infusing the sacred aura of the shrine into the décor.
The mandap featured temple dome silhouettes, surrounded by mantra-printed chaadars, lotuses, bells, and florals. Coconut thalis wrapped in florals, wishing elements, and serene color palette of white, pink, and gold gave the wedding an aura of quiet divinity. For the pheras, hand-held bells were given to the guests, to stay aligned with the spiritual intent.
The final celebration felt rooted, tranquil, and transcendently elegant —a divine end to a deeply meaningful wedding journey.
