From fun traditional dance performances to beautiful customized jewellery, Tanvi and Quresh’s wedding functions has lots of unique touches. Here, bride Tanvi shares fun memories of the various events which were captured by WeddingSutra Favorite Seventy by Two.
How We Met
“Quresh and I met when I was in the first year of engineering, and he was in the last year of his college at DJ Sanghvi College of Engineering. We got introduced to each other during a Model United Nations event which he was moderating, and I was a mere press team participant. We didn’t start seeing each other right away as everything takes its own course. While I fell crazily in love with him, Quresh didn’t want to give in so easily. After some effort from my end and some nudging, he finally decided to give in. After two years, I moved to the US to pursue my Master’s Degree and fell in love with Quresh even more. We had our own share of ups and downs over the course of our relationship but eventually knew that we wanted to tie the knot. Currently, he is an electrical engineer for Cummins, while I’m a Consumer Research Analyst for a start-up called Exact Media.”
Wedding Proposal
“The proposal was pretty cute and took place at Brown County State Park in Indiana, US. After work, at around 5 pm, we drove through the forest in October. Once we reached a beautiful spot, this kind man went down on his one knee by the lake and popped the question.”
Wedding Functions
Wedding
“After all the contemplation of dealing with the extended family, we took the first step towards our wedding by deciding to just sign papers in Cincinnati on November 21 last year, instead of having a ceremony. This was a super intimate event which saw just immediate family members flying down to the US to attend.”
Mehndi
The couple kicked off their Indian wedding celebrations in Mumbai with a mehndi function. “Our guests enjoyed the ambiance at this function since it was an intimate one held at home,” shares Tanvi. Only close friends and families were present. The mood was light and joyful, and the function was a great way to kick start the celebrations.”
Sangeet
“The sangeet was held at the Juhu Club and had live singers for ‘garba’ (traditional Gujarati dance) which was it one of the most fun-filled functions. The mood was joyful, and the dance performances provided great entertainment. In keeping with the majestic vibe, we made sure we looked like royalty – Quresh exuded the vibe of an erstwhile Maharaja in a traditional outfit, while I wore an embellished lehenga with beautiful jewellery.”
Reception
“The reception was held at Novotel Mumbai Juhu Beach. Our reception decor was all about beautiful draping, frames, flowers and massive vases. I wanted to look stylish yet be comfortable for this event, so I wore a bright orange lehenga and bespoke jewellery which perfectly matched Quresh’s dapper black outfit. I had a jewellery consultant by the name of Chaitali Doshi who did a fabulous job in making sure my jewellery was well balanced with my outfit. She got them personally designed and made by her ‘karigars’ (traditional craftsman). My reception jewellery truly made me look like a goddess.”
Cocktail Party
“We wanted to have a party after the reception where the guests could have fun without all the typical speeches and entrances. This cocktail party was held at Escobar in Bandra. The upbeat songs kept us all dancing throughout the evening. To match all the enthusiasm, I wore a stunning red gown had me looking groovy through the night!”
Advice for Couples
“My biggest advice to all the brides out there – make sure you enjoy your own wedding. You’re getting married for yourself and your better half, not for the world. People may forget your wedding, but you’ll always remember yours for the rest of your lives, so live in the moment and have fun.”
