With the help of WeddingSutra Favorites – Perfexion Events, Cupcake Productions, and Pink Whistle Man, the couple orchestrated a grand wedding. The bride shares with us the details and highlights of their big day.
How We Met
“Kapil and I were introduced to each other by our parents in a typical arranged marriage setup. For me, it was love at first sight. I knew that I wanted to get married to him when I found out about him. In fact, he was the first guy who I had liked since the time my parents had started looking for a partner for me. Since Kapil lived in Hong Kong, I first met his family members who reside in Mumbai. They happened to like me, so about three weeks later Kapil flew down to meet my family and me. We exchanged numbers to stay in touch. On the day of the launch of my jewellery brand, he decided to surprise me by visiting me since he thought I would be nervous. While I was rather calm for the launch of my label, we were rather nervous after dinner that night. We knew this was it, and at 4 am next morning Kapil sent me a message saying that it was a ‘Yes!’”
Proposal
“We had two proposals since Kapil and I both wanted to propose to each other. Let me share how Kapil proposed first. He booked the Presidential Suite at JW Marriott Mumbai and asked me to meet him there. I reached there, and a little while later his friends joined us too. They gifted me a four-hour spa session on the same day. Little did I know what they were up to when I was out of the room. When I came back, I could hear ‘All of Me’ by John Legend playing in the background. The entire room was decorated with roses, balloons, candles and our pictures. Kapil then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Despite ours being an arranged marriage, he made sure that I got the perfect proposal. I was so touched. I had planned to propose to Kapil on his birthday, which coincided with his cousin’s roka ceremony. I prepared seven cards which were handed to him throughout the day by people around him. I asked him to marry me by the poolside at ITC Maurya, New Delhi. I decked up in a lehenga, went down on one knee and offered him a platinum love band.”
Wedding Venues
“I was keen on having a destination wedding and so was my father-in-law. I had always dreamed of a traditional Rajasthani wedding in Udaipur where I would exchange vows wearing a Sabyasachi lehenga and had expressed the same to Kapil. While I had mentioned this to him in a casual conversation, he happened to remember it and even told his father about it. So they started looking for venue options in the ‘City Of Lakes.’ However, the hotels there were all full, so they shifted focus to Jodhpur. We hosted our functions at the WelcomHeritage Bal Samand Lake Palace and WelcomHotel Jodhpur. The beautiful lawns, the heritage-rich buildings and the traditional aesthetics of the different spaces made them perfect for our nuptials. The venues were selected by my father-in-law, and they could not have been better.”

Wedding Functions
Cocktail Party
“We welcomed guests to our wedding celebrations with a Cocktail Party that had a Sufi vibe. WelcomHeritage Bal Samand Lake Palace was alight with numerous fairy lights and candles and white florals added to the ethereal charm of the setup. To make the night a little more exciting, we invited Kailash Kher to perform for us. For this function, I opted for a jewel-tone outfit by Varun Bahl and paired it with jewellery that was designed by me. Kapil looked handsome in a black outfit by Ankur Batra.”
Mehndi
“Our mehndi followed the next morning at WelcomHotel Jodhpur, and the function was buzzing with joy and laughter. We explored Rajasthani aesthetics for this event, so the venue was decorated with hot pink, yellow, green, orange and red hues. To add some quirkiness, we had a yellow scooter parked at the photo booth. I entered the venue under a ‘phoolon ka chaadar’ (floral canopy) with Kapil by my side. I wore a baby pink creation that featured floral embroidery and paired it with self-designed jewellery, while he donned a white kurta and a brown bandi jacket by Rohit Bal.”
Sangeet
“The same evening we hosted our sangeet at WelcomHeritage Bal Samand Lake Palace where Kapil and I also exchanged rings and cut the cake. The function took place outdoors and included a lineup of energetic performances. With lights and an LED backdrop, the stage looked nothing less than a concert venue. Two of Bollywood’s most recognized names, Salim–Sulaiman kept our guests entertained with beautiful songs. I wore a blue lehenga by Manish Malhotra that was paired with a light pink dupatta. Kapil too wore a creation of the same designer. But he opted for a darker palette and picked a heavily embroidered black sherwani.”
Wedding
“On the day of our wedding, my dream of being a Sabyasachi bride came true. I wore a red lehenga designed by the legendary designer and matched it with self-designed kundan jewellery. Kapil looked regal in an outfit by Ankur Batra. We hosted this function at WelcomHotel Jodhpur and stuck to a red and gold color palette. In the mandap, we used rajanigandha blooms for scented freshness, and I entered the venue with Rajasthani ladies holding large diyas. We had musical pheras by Rekha Rao where she sang for four pheras. She has a style that is unique to her where she explains the significance of each phera and sings a song at the end of each one of it. This made our ceremony more engaging and unique. Our reception was an extension of the wedding.”
Advice To Couples
“Enjoy your wedding and forget about what the people say because this time won’t come back. Planning the wedding can be stressful, but it’s all worth it at the end. When the final day comes, focus on having fun instead of being tired. We enjoyed every minute of it of our wedding, and we danced so much that our guests called us ‘The Dancing Couple.’”
